for the past month I've woken up in the middle of the night with agonizing pain in my chest that goes away when i sit up and breathe shallowly, but instantly returns when i lie down or breathe heavily... I've heard that this is a symptom of a condition called Mitral valve prolapse, that is common in people my age (nearly 16). Its when the heart is to weak to keep blood flowing in only one direction when it contracts. It can be both fatal an non fatal (more commonly non fatal), but how would i know? how would i know this isn't an even more serious problem since i can't go see a doctor? This Disrupts my sleep and basically stops by breathing...

You simply have to go and see a doctor. Do not listen to anything anyone on this forum says, only to a doctor.

Appointment is a no go. Looks like there won't be an appointment. and @Zombo, by serious i meant life threatening. sometimes this turns into a condition called Mitral valve regurgitation, where a lot of blood flows the wrong was without a trigger because of how weak the valve is. this means that if it gets that serious, i need to get a replacement.

How can you not see a doctor? Go to a hospital.

What do you mean appointment is a no go? This is exactly the kind of time to see a doctor!

Make it clear to him the pain is IN your chest as opposed to your back.

    1) you shouldnt even be posting here now... go fight for your life 2) if your dad is a no-go, go to your mom then 3) when u said pain do u mean it feels like theres a needle penetrated ur lungs etc? if so, i used to have that too @@ 4) oh and if ur mom says no too... go to the hospital urself and let the doctor decide 5) ^ ofcourse bring some cash if its actually not serious, just incase its not serious enough to get the doctor to call ur parents over.. I suddenly remembered I have a similar thing. This other day I was at work typing and I just looked up because I thought somebody was coming and I had this sharp searing pain across my chest, I don't even know why. My movement was not even sudden, it was just casual. It hurt for a while and then I forgot about it until I came across this thread, so I thought it might be something similar. And lolnate in the first page
