Battlezone / Team Tournament?

Are any of the UPSB teams up for a team tournament? If your team is, please post here. This thread is not to sort out every detail, just to show interest. A new thread will be made to discuss how many spinners from each team, tournament format and dates. If you are a member of multiple teams, I am suggesting that you can just select any one of them to battle for. You can reply here to put your name down as a maybe (?) and then discuss it in the team before you give a definate yes. Edit: Perhaps this could be a collab battle, since most teams seem to be making collabs? Teams up for tournament ? - Maybe ! = Yes Alliance - ? O13 - ? Crazy Taxi Team - ? ORGANIZATION XIII - ? If it was a team collab battle would judging include the quality of the video as far as how it is edited and if it it flows well with the choice of music?

Public vote would probably be good. But you know, there is going to be some bias if one collab has better editing then the other.

How about making it UPSB Cup? You got a system for teams battling each other so why not continue using it? Just some of my ideas: I think it could work if you make some changes to the rules. You could leave out the group stage and head straight for the KO stage (I assume there won't be as many teams as in WC so group stage would not be a good idea). Or do all vs all. That would take more time for organisation and stuff tho. The themes can be changed or some may be added to make the them more striking/clear/whatever. Instead of having judges vote you could also make public votes for the battles. Well I hope you find a good system for this tournament.

There are issues with people belonging to multiple teams and juggling multiple commitments. @JC pulled off a UPSB team tournament, but it was dominated by one team iirc. I think what you should do is take a list of spinners that want to do it, then split them up into groups of four (1 double + 2 singles). There are issues of people dropping out halfway, but you could always keep a list of backups. -

If it is a team collab, then the team has to just put together one collab between them all. There is no issue with multiple battles and rounds etc. Edit: I did also suggest in the first post that we should allow members of multiple teams to just pick one team only to participate for. -

This is just a random thought, but because there are some issues with this format i was thinking that maybe it would be better to switch it to a tag tournament. You would get a partner in the first round and you would stick with them til the end of the tournament or until you were defeated. You would battle other tag teams to advance, so on and so forth. (Not saying this team idea wouldn't work, its just a suggestion.) Thoughts?

Remember the old UPSB Team Tournament back then in '09? Not sure who won though, but i remember i was in it :P We could use that same old system, (Can't really remember that well, but i think it was 2 1v1 battles, with 1 2v2 battles per round per team matchup, i remember i had some really gay 2v2 with zweebna vs. Samuirai and Jopi) but if you guys want something else, then i suppose that should happen? idk what i'm saying @Xound

I have already discussed this idea with iColor (I think, or some other mod i don't remember that well) a few months ago. It is far too hard to organize and it will collide with world tournaments. Old idea is old (sun) nice to see you taking initiative though. As for tournament between pre-existing teams in upsb, many of the members are the same and not a whole lot of teams are competitive/active.

Are you in an actual UPSB team, or are you just two guys that would make a team of two up right now? If it is the latter, perhaps there could still be a way for you to enter. You may have to make 2 combos each though, if you were up for the challenge (I know you're pretty good WisHHH). -

We only need 4 teams for this tournament to work too. That's not a lot of the many teams that are on UPSB. The issue of pen spinners being on multiple teams is already addressed in the first post. The world cup has a group stage, followed by quarter and semi finals and then a final. Not only do we not have enough teams for this format, but one has to consider the amount of combos this means teams have to make, during a fairly busy time in pen spinning. -

There was a Team Tournament encompassing all of UPSB and then the organizer (Resonance I think), tried to make it world wide but it was a major failure.

It is definately not going to be a World Cup style tournament. Probably a collab. Just need to wait what overall team opinion is on this. -

4 is the minimum. It depends if we do a collab battle or a tournament. When teams have signed up, I will start a new thread in which all the teams can decide what format the competition takes. We could say, if it were tournament format, that each team has 6 slots. Then, if you have 4 spinners, you have to have 2 spinners doing 2 combos to fill up the slots, so it will put more strain on smaller teams, but I do no think this tournament is going to work if we ask everyone to form a massive team. -
