This is a new game I'm running for UPSB. You do not have to register to play, you simply post your koans or guesses. [spoiler=Rules and examples]The goal of Zendo is very simple: figure out the secret rule for forming "koans". A koan is a sequence of emoticons. For example: :XD::minche::help::search::XD: is a koan. To start the game, the master, I, will provide 2 koans. One will respect the rule ("has the Buddha-nature") and one does not respect the rule ("does not have the Buddha-nature"). You are free to post any number of koans to be evaluated by the master, who will tell you whether your koan respect or does not respect the rule. You are also allowed to guess what the secret rule is. If the rule is correct, you win! If it is not correct, I will provide a counter-example which follows your rule, but does not follow the secret rule. Alternatively, I can provide a counter-example which does NOT follow your rule, but follows the secret rule. You are allowed only 1 guess every 24 hours (for each person). Rules can concern anything from specific emotes to the color of the emotes, their position in the koan, their content, etc. The rules cannot refer to previous games or things outside of the koans. See Spock rule. Example secret rule: "A koan has the Buddha-nature if it contains an equal number of :) and :(" Examples of koans which respect this rule: :):( :tongue::(:jawdrop::):XD: (nothing) -> no emoticon is allowed and would respect the rule Examples of koans which would not respect this rule. :bowdown::tongue::) :([/spoiler] Game #1 - strat1227 is the winner! Also a question about the rules, is the nature allowed to involve the text contained in the koan? (like only characters that take 4 letters to make or something like that)

A koan has the Buddha-nature if it contains exactly 2 pairs of identical emotes, and there cannot be 2 pairs right next to each other (can't have anything looking like AABB or AAAA) note: the table tennis? emote counts as 1 pair, and the 2 guys pointing and laughing also counts as 1 pair
