Played during the week, great game! As always, character development remains a weakness. NPCs have almost no background story, even for the followers. This is a big difference from BioWare games. However, the scope of the game is amazing, huge amount of stuff to do. Combat system works fairly well, I'm a mage who uses sneak attack bow to initiate combat. In battle, I use a combination of fire spells with conjuration. I'm really squishy though, no armor at all so I get one-shotted fairly often. I'm playing on PC btw, I do have a shrink copy of Skyrim for PS3 if anybody's interested.

Already lots of discussion about it in Most Replies I chose wood elf because I thought archery would be awesome but 95% of the quests put you in tiny little dungeons where close-up is required, so I abandoned archery pretty quick I mainly use destruction magic on one hand and a single-hand melee weapon on the other, then use shouts to push people back if I start to get swarmed I like how you can rise to the top of whatever organization is in each city. I'm the leader of the Companions, the mage College, and the Theives Guild right now.

dude u played a lot to finish all those quests... i dual wield firebolts so i actually dont use any real weapons. If I'm in trouble, I conjure a bound sword but that never happens. maybe later on i'll get the 6x backstab damage for dagger perk :D for shouts I like to use marked to death and whirlwind sprint. one thing that sucks with doing sneak attacks is that you dont know if the person you're aiming is friendly or not before you actually kill them lol. Once I was in front of a crypt and I saw some dude. I assumed it was a bandit so I killed him. Later on after I finished the crypt I realized it was a good guy trying to find his sister or something lol oh well.

I'm a High elf. Exclusively conjure and dual wield destruction spells. Pretty squishy :\ esp. against anything with magic resistance. Good damage, but I can't get by without shouts.\ Horse physics are pretty hilarious, climb up a very steep mountain then hold shift to walk and try to jump.

yeah i use my xbox controller to play it even though it's on my PC because default keyboard controllers sucked dick and i was too lazy to rebind @Loanshark you started with the imperial vs stormcloak stuff pretty early, i was a level 12 or so before I even joined a side. very first thing i did was went to the college to learn about magic shit because that's what i wanted to focus on I'm finally pretty solid, haven't died in forever because when i level up i ALWAYS put it into health, since I wear enough magika gear it's really high already. i'm playing trying to avoid dying at all costs, i've only died like 3 times so far (from stupid 1-hit boss fights usually)

i didnt like oblivion and im addicted to skyrim lol its a lot like fallout 3, but the combat and RPG elements are better, characters are a bit worse. if you like games where you explore a lot, this is the best. i usually set out a plan of what i want to do when i leave town, but i get distracted along the way and end up doing something else rofl -

Just started a few days ago, haven't spent a whole lot of time yet due to school and music stuff, but maybe like 4 hours or so. I'm a level 4 Wood Elf Mage, was going to be an Archeress but it's lame and not as fun. Also, what's Conjuration? Is that when you raise stuff from the dead to fight with you, or like, creating temporary weapons? Atm I'm doing mostly Frostbite/Flames type combos, or 2h when I need to down something I can't otherwise till I get better armor/stats/perks. Also, how does the Shout system work? Isn't it Z to activate those (I use standard binding except m1 left wep and m2 right like it should be, and I have shift sprint and alt toggle run/walk)? Or is that the racial power or whatever....

you'll start with a racial power, wood elf i believe makes ur mana increase 2x as fast for 60s then later on ull get shouts, which you can choose essentially, Z controls both of these. you can only have 1 equipped at once so to use ur racial power, then shout... u need to go in, equip racial power, press Z to use it, go back in to menu and equip shout, press Z to use it also, I'm with Zombo here, got bored of oblivion in like 3 hours... Skyrim, me and meitenshi combined, have played 33 hours since release

Those require money to buy. I also prefer most control schemes on the PC anyway so if I were to get one of those consoles, they would basically be for Skyrim/a DVD/Blu-ray player. -

hmm for skyrim the pc controls are not that good, all the interfaces are easier to naviguate using controller -

Yeah, I still like it on my PC though, just rebinded some stuff and basically get to every weapon or potion or spell I use via favorites, as it makes it more PC-friendly.

Yeah, me too :/ I only really do that since it's faster for me to use that like the normal menu and ignore the console-oriented inventory stuff. Also, you said you didn't like how archery/sneak and the like was turning out? I can't decide if I want to go for more of a straight mage, destruction and conjuration, or for a mainly archeress but also mage combo....

This, my friends, is why PC is best http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/35121/ive-misplaced-a-perk-can-i-get-it-back using console to redistribute perks, aka when I decide I don't want archery, or I want to play around with speccing something else instead, just remove perks from archery and add to whatever based on the amount of them you had.

no I like archery/sneak, its really fun to shoot one guy in the head and he dies. the only problem is figuring out if the target is a bad guy or not lol, so you gotta save before shooting. archery is my backup when im out of mana also. -

Oh nice :) yeah atm I'm enjoying, and also, is that 300 gold a pop archery training (I'm still in Rivenwood :3) worth it? I got it once and plan to again, but can't remember if it's worth it. If it just gives me 1 instant archery skill level up that's stupid, but if it does anything else helpful imma go for it...

lol jesus you still have lydia? i have like 9 housecarl's now or whatever they're called, i'm thane of almost every city lol @sangara i've had a few of them, but i save often enough that i can just go back and reload at just about any point. I have like 250+ manual saves now haha -

I'm rolling archery and leveling my pickpocketing/sneak hardcore as well, being welfen and all, but I just spent like 1.5k on a ton of spells for destruction/conjuration so I can straight magic it up as well....I think I'll mix it up until I have my archery maxed and my magic maxed, at which point i'll archery/sneak for mobs and dungeons and minibosses, and magic for bigger things. Seem like a good plan? D: I'm still not spending any of my perks in magic, all in archery and sneak till they're maxed or have to wait a while, though. My elven bow motives me to make archery come first :)

The brotherhood comes to you after you finish this quest where a kid wants someone dead. Anyways, I've decided that since I played through Morrowind going the mage route I'll do something I've never done, a straight up barbarian. I want a great axe so bad. Still not sure on the race yet though.

Currently i'm level 20. Argonian mage/thief. I love this game almost as much as oblivion. Where I've barely touched the main quest and go around wandering to random places picking up side quests. I've only done the companions, whiterun jarl's mission, a shit-ton of side quests, and I"m working on the winterhold college. I only use archery, destruction and sneak. Dual wielding hadoken fireball/ice/lightning/ balls is the shit. Plus with ward you don't have to worry about much. Poured almost all of my stats in magic, so 300+ magic + destruction + ward = untouchable.

you have to order her around to manulaly make her move i use some mercenary dude from windhelm, he's a sarcastic dude who comments on everything its really good\ im really annoyed by lydia keep saying "I'm sworn to carry your burdens" -

Never knew Elder Scrolls series was this awesome, lol. Skyrim is like my first game and I'm in love with it. D: A lot of glitches but some of them are quite hilarious. strat, now try get married to one of the girls in game. Something will definitely happen.:trollface:

lol my character is a girl because i wanted to be a wood elf but the guy wood elf was fucking hideous and it annoyed me i just don't like having followers at all, they just get in the way when i'm trying to do destruction magic and i accidentally hit them then they turn and start fighting me lol

Followers don't fight back :P I've accidentally killed mine multiple times just from slashing her, causing her to catch fire and die They're useful for carrying stuff -

Followers fight back. You just revealed you aren't playing on Master difficultly Biji :trollface: So I feel wrong for having balanced out my stat upgrades a bit, mostly Magicka but still..... I'm doing mostly archery/sneak, but also Destruction, basically just like iMatt, and i'm on the fence between whether I'll drop archery and go pure magic or stay archery. Oh wait, nvm I just decided right now, I think imma go pure mage Destr/Conjure/Ward maxing out here i come :) @strat1227 I did the same thing. And also I <3 slaying dragons and draugrs with my hawt aelfen bod' :D

In the first night I had it I got to level 10. Playing on expert, dark elf battle mage. Now level 34 with full dragonscale armour, 100 smithing and all daedric weps. Completed main quest line but I still haven't decided between Empire or Stormcloak rebellion, I'm for the rebellion but they have all the shitty cities. Anyone know of a good way to train pickpocket well? I ALWAYS get caught, even when I steal bread from a beggar whilst they're asleep. I have a feeling I will be playing this game for the next few years and screw up a couple exams due to it. Oh well ^.^

The Vampire thing is weird, I didn't even know that I was becoming one till I stepped out into daylight and it said "You feel weak from the day light", I'm not exactly sure what it does yet. I have to ask my friend who played a vampire in Oblivion.

no you don't have to pick between the two to my knowledge, the only mutually exclusive ones are imperials and stormcloaks -

I'm 40 hours in and haven't finished yet. I'm not quite the completionist you are though (I think), I don't do EVERY task someone gives me. What level is your character? I think you just spend more time doing non-mission stuff than me if you're 35 hours in and only in 3 cities. Only house organizing I've done is pimp out the floor of one of my houses with gems lol -

lvl 20 hmm i dunno what im doing tbh lol usually when im in town i decide which quest im going to next, and I walk/horse ride the way there. on the way, I constantly do 360s to make sure there are no landmarks that I didn't explore. i try not to stray too far from the main road to the quest location if there are, I go there and explore the landmarks, but if its a dungeon, I don't go in there. if its something easy or completely outdoor then I do it right away (such as killing a dragon). this is what my map looks like

So I've figured out the vampire deal. Apparently once you've contracted it (the day after you get it) it's severity increases everyday capping out on the 4th day. Once you have fully realized your vampy-ness you're super badass at night but you can't do shit during the day, you burst into flames. In order to live during the day you need to drink blood once a day but you aren't as badass at night. So I think I'm going to not drink blood and just be badass at night. Badass.

OMG /DOES ty I actually am just going to do it by continuing my path of archery+sneak, and sneak dual-weilding one handed weaps (dagger+sword till x16 sneak attack, then dagger+dagger). Now, imma focus more on my 1h and sneak trees for this reason :D I'll easily be able to max out my Archery, Sneak, and Onehanded perks right? The other thing is that if you go full vamp it takes another 4 days of drinking blood to return to semi-human. The powers are kinda sweet though, I can raise a dead body to fight for me for 60 seconds, I've been told there are more powers to, so I'll keep you guys updated. Oh and once you drink blood people hate you.

Speech perks are great, but I have to max out my archery, sneak, tech to daedric armor, tech to no-weight heavy armor, and most of one-handed tree. Up on the way to Throat Of The World? I spammed Bow and used Fire Breath shout. If you don't have a follower with you try run back to the previous emblem thingy, there is a dark elf girl of something there and she can help you fight the troll. :trollface: I use Bow so I don't have that much problem dealing with him, just don't leave too much space inbetween because he can regenerate his HP pretty quick. -

Been dealing with a couple of trolls today, you can actually go hand-to-hand with them up to expert difficulty setting as they have pretty much predictable moves. I'm a Khajiit, though. D: Edit: I heard that you can actually go through the whole game even if you are a level 1. It doesn't really matter that much as long as you have good armors and arms, and maybe some potions.

fucking this. fun game, but no sense of satisfaction when finishing something at all. I think it's a side-effect of their stupid "infinitely generated sidequests" thing. when you finish a group's quests they all stick around and just hang out so you can do boring pointless quests for them for eternity there's no sense that anything's different after finishing because wherever i go in the world there's just a group of people standing around bitching at me to do stupid infinitely generated quests the game is long enough as it is, there's no reason to add that feature at the expense of a feeling of progression btw, you can tell when it's part of the infinitely generated thing when they stop using names for people lol, they just say "the cowardly shopkeep" and "the veteran warrior" and stuff haha -

Yeah every city has a companion you can pay to follow you, plus if you've done any of the side missions you can get those people to be your companions (Brother hood, mage college, etc) -

I didn't get just 30k legit...I got around 70k legit, then 40k something from the free houses(still cheated lmao), then like 10k from duplicating...right now I got 200k, boosted my 120k~>200k through selling dragon bones & scales plus all the shitty items I get...and do you high lvl(40+) people still loot? dafuq? I saw some Skyrim exploit vids and wtf? They got potions that increase smithing/alchemy/restoration by 300,000% for 300 secs or something like that. Their weapons have 30k+ damages, each armor piece has 80k+ armor lol wth they just ruined the game -_-

So I'm level 6 so pretty early in the game. I killed the leader of some cave as a quest for a guy in whiterun. I was at the whiterun stables when I saw a dragon flying in circles above and then flew away. I'm wondering if there was a way to fight that dragon. Anybody?

@Kari Sometimes its a random dragon, sometimes its not. If its not usually if you approach the dragon it will fight you. Otherwise sometimes it will be Alduin, which you can't fight right now

I tried to approach it and it kept going in circles. I even tried a shout on it and didn't do anything. I was thinking maybe try an arrow but I didn't have any. But its gone now so I'm not worried about it. Now something else... Shouts have three "words", correct? How do I use them together? I got the very first one after killing the first dragon and then went and got roar (I think that's what it is called) but how do I use it? @Tetsip

1st char: tried to make him look like Achilles, can't really make chars look young in Skyrim, Dragon Age 1&2 character creation is better
