Should I save up for a quality part, or buy a used part for cheap that has wear and tear on it? EDIT: Quality part=750 dollars Cheap=125 dollars Let me be more specific. The quality part is brand new in box, and is the complete package. Includes absolutely everything required for installation. Self-explanitory. Cheap part has 20,000 miles on it (which sounds like a lot, but its moderate.), and only includes one component of the five parts in the quality part; however it is functional. Hope that helps. Cheap part is local pick up, the new part is being shipped

Depends on how much tear and how far away you are from getting the new part.

will it kill you if you use the old part? how long are you willing to use this car for? if min(expensive part lifetime, how long im willing to use it for) < 6*cheap part life time -> buy cheap

if youre gonna use it for a while, save up. if theres no sig diff, use whatevers cheaper. but if the cheap one breaks, youre gonna have to buy a new one, so in the long run it evens out so might as well get a nice quality one
