Everytime when i record my pen spinning i always keep on dropping the pen a lot espacially when i do tricks like haitua, spreads, backfall etc. Then i have to record it again and again and again untill i don't drop it. Ever happen to anyone?

uh, yes you have to film until you finally get it on tape, When I first started, filming was a torture for me, but the more I film it gets easier for me, try filming more freestyles.

once you get more experience filming and more time spent spinning it gets better. But if you want to look better then you actually are, then you can take a long time filming to get a great combo. Either spin more or turn down your difficulty.

dont turn down your difficulty. turn it up! if you turn your difficulty down you'll just end up settling for less than your actual level of skill. LOL anyways..recording can be an issue. ill do a combo fine off cam but suck on cam. in the Summer Tournament i spent 14 hours recording. unfortunately i had to settle for less than what i had intended to submit, and i lost. Power tricks arent much of an issue for me tho. LOL just keep practicing.

once you get more experience filming and more time spent spinning it gets better [[Exactly That .]] Pick 10 minutes or more all the day filming pen spinning combos , Fs , etc ....

the reason why i spend a lot of time filming is because im not used to spinning over a desk.

That's just how things work. I'm the exact same way with my busts. I was lucky to get 4 on camera when I generally do more off camera. Just gotta keep at it. Don't give up. Dropping the pen will always happen even to the best spinners. You just have to pick it up and keep going. ^_^

It's just harder to spin on camera for me because I spin in places where I normally wouldn't spin(Desk).

The camera gives you pressure. 'Nuff said....

This is something that almost everyone goes through. It's something like stage fright. The only thing you can do it to just keep at it. After awhile the pressure to film a combo will go away and it'll be easier to film. Turning up or down the difficulty does have it's pros and cons but the only thing you can do is to continue spinning and after awhile the nervousness will go away. Just be prepared, there might be times when combos will call for hours of filming. From what I've experienced, these were the things that got me to improve in my spinning (in front of a camera that is).

i have a similar problem. Like when i film I always like panic or something and do something different than what I wanna do. Practice what you wanna film over and over again and record your self doing it. So it feels like your not being recorded or get someone to hide the camera or film you.

Try spinning with a camera more often, when you feel like spinning at home, turn on the camera. It will be much easier to record 'cause you'll get used to it.

yah but the more times i record it the more i'll get discourage, anger, and sometimes jelously.

It's better to record in small chunks throughout the day rather than all at once. You'll let emotions take control over you if you don't. Make sure you're well-rested, not hungry, etc. Also, try to get away from distractions. You will focus much better.

It was very hard for me to film because I'm always spinning right over my lap. I guess you have to get used to it. Also try filming 1 combo a week or something. Having a constant schedule will most likely help with your problems.

I'm not good in front of cameras but the more you do it the better you get. Besides, if you are having the issue of not being able to spin while others are watching you, put some music in your ears and concentrate on yourself. I always hated it when I can hear people whisper about my spinning so I used music to get away from that. I hope this helps. ^_^ Also filming often does help. I have been filming a lot more lately and I see the difference. ^_^

I hate it when i was spinning for hours, trying to record a combo and drop at the finisher. and that is what i also always fear. >__> stupid, but meeh. got to work on that.

You have to believe you can do it, if you think you may drop it, the chance of you dropping it increases.

if you even think about dropping, then you're not focused enough x)

I spin better standing up, so sitting and spinning is a pain. I think that the pressure to get a coherent combo makes it harder. I spent 15 minutes on a 9 second combo once.

same here, it takes me 2 hours to film a 10 sec combo that is really bad

Hm. When you film something, you become conscious about it, causing the mod to drop. When i spin, I think that there is no camera lolol. XD. And it kinda works lolol. Just be relaxed when filming.

I dunno if this works for anyone else, but if I wash my hands with warm water and soap and dry them thoroughly before i start filming, i tend to do much better Also, I find it just like performing anything on stage: the more you do it, the more confident you'll be next time around.

hmm.... i have not that much truble with smooth combos annymore ^_^ but when i do some harder tricks that i usally (spelled wrong T_T) do i fail like hell am better with powertricks when i stand but that's harder to film it takes 2 hours for a good nice combo and 5/10 min for a smooth easy combo

My hands get all clammy and shaky when i film. I found that if i have a wet towel that i can stick my hand in once this starts happening it makes it better.

I have the same problem with filming. Most of the time it's actually because of my fingers being too tacky (I lift often so I have really rough hands) which makes spinning much more difficult but like Vertaz, washing hands in water and soap really help. For me though it mainly just takes off a lot of the excess traction.

I apologize if this thread already exists or if i should have posted it somewhere else. I get really nervous when filming and can't execute my combos. Does anyone get nervous like this and is there a solution. Sorry it was auto-correct i meant *Norvous=Nervous*

Serious? Im pretty sure auto correct makes words spelled correctly? Anyway, i like to spin in a dark room with candles as it makes me really relaxed, you should try it

dude, I feel you. I don't think I've recorded 1 combo that I'm actually proud of. They all come out like meh after a shit ton of tries.

leave the webcam on without stopping after the fails, spin and eventually you'll get it on tape. it's good, because you somehow don't think about the cam anymore. oh and turn the music on and just have fun ;)
