It's musical, rhythmic, mathematical, physical, artistic and more tired now so I'll explain tomorrow

    whoops should be in philosophy

how would it be musical or mathematical XD

I guess from this point of vue, we could also say that "everything is everything"... Take a lamp, you can switch it on and off repeatedly with a rythm to make it musical, there is physics involved in the electronics, the electromagnetic waves propagation from the lamp to your eyes, lamps can vary in shape and structure so it's also artistical, ... and so on.

i don't get how it is mathematical...

Well, we could say that everything related with physics involves mathematics at some point, hence pen spinning would also be mathematical, I guess that is what TheSpinner 3.5 meant.

And I guess counting how many busts, baks etc. could be loosely called mathematical.

I agree, and with other manipulations, if you look at manipulative art as a whole, it's very much the same thing.

Exactly my friend. And what you said about physics being mathematical thus pen spinning is mathematical also agrees with my thinking Aswell as what Milk said, number of tricks makes it mathematical aswell(even if "loosely") ill be back tomorrow with words to describe what i mean

all is one and one is all ;] or everything that exists and everything occurs in the universe can really be a subset of physics explained and understood through the medium of mathamatics. Art perhaps not explained through physics...but pen spinning can fit into that catagory.

hmmmmm, makes me think, what if you could explain the universe with pen spinning what if pen spinning could be a sorta model of how the world works

ehmmm. i dont think you could explain the universe through 1 object/hobby... perhaps there are some analogies you can make with the physics of pen spinning. currently we obviously use maths as the primary medium to explain everything that we can observe. you can try it would be interesting to see what you can come up with..? xD lets not be closed minded.

okay, hmmm lemme think lol wait r u referring to the collab/doc im planning?

Just saying you can rationalize anything: 2+2=5...if we were to change our number system so that 2 were the equivalent of today's 2.5 given that the 5 were to stay the same.

oh ok jus checkin, cuz im working on a collab called physics of pen spinning

Yea, I wouldn't say that PS can be a model for how the world works, thats pushing it. In fact going on what Radek said, almost anything can be based and everything

  17. Radek
    Date: Mon, Jul 5 2010 08:28:42

Pushing things this far, we can model the universe almost out of everything: there is a lot of things around us that could be turned into a Turing machine, including pens, and that's enough theoretically, if we assume that we can model the universe using computers. But it's not exactly the same approach as the above messages suggest.

So now they're putting MX's and Comssas in the LHC to see if it works better.

I see how it can be artistic, but not mathematical....

And to this day @TheSpinner 3.5 still has not explained what he actually meant.

Let's face it though. Physical, mathematical and rhythmical pretty much covers everything that exists. Is pen spinning artistic? Maybe. Even so, he's picked some rather broad aspects of pen spinning, that could be used to relate it to nearly anything.

All i can say is "pen spinning is art"
