Hey guys, sorry I've been busy lately, so I didn't get a chance to create this thread sooner. So, I will update this later, but for now, I want to post a tentative date of July 16 (sat), 11am-4pm. Location will probably be the same as usual, in Brea Mall. Please let me know if you are coming so I have a general idea of how many people will make it. I should be able to go, depends on what happens that week for me. I usually bike to Fullerton from Garden Grove on the daily so Brea is a little more than nothing, so I'll bike it there if I'm able to go!

As of now, i'm a maybe. I'm waiting to see who's going to go so that i can determine if its worth it for me to commute and attend. The last gathering wasn't as good as the ones before which made the trip disappointing. I'll let you guys know when we come closer to date. -

@TEK It was also the middle of the hardest rainstorm california has had in years. There were car crashes everywhere, I was surprised we got as many people as we did, lol.

Oh really? Yeah, there was quite a lot of people last time. I just hoped there were some old timer gatherers that went cuz we usually do something afterwards like dinner and movie which make up for the long travel. Anyways, this gathering looks promising. I'll most likely attend. -

Darnit I didn't realize Brea is only 16 miles from Irvine >_< And I already made plans on the 16th >_<>_< So I guess I'm not going. I hope I can go to next year's Summer Gathering. Are we going to look at a Winter Gathering as well? I don't think we had one did we?

We're gonna keep July 16th as the final date since we don't have enough time to keep changing dates. If you can't make it on that date, I apologize...next gathering I'll try to set a date at least several months in advanced so you can start planning early. Also, I am wondering if people are interested in lecture/workshops. While I'm no expert in all tricks, I believe I have enough experience in certain areas of PS that could be helpful to other spinners. Since it would require some time to gather my thoughts, I think I'll only cover one topic if people are interested. So, if you're interested, please pick one of the following topics: - creativity (focused on tricks, but creativity techniques tend to be universal) - training techniques (how to get the most out of your practice time) - presentation (as it applies to PS demos/paid opportunities, but should work in general as well) note: I don't really feel I should do a lecture on modding since I haven't modded since end of 2009, and my methods could be completely outdated by now. Also, anyone else that feels they're qualified to do a lecture/workshop on a particular topic, feel free to post. My goal is to share the knowledge, and help new spinners have the advantage I didn't have when I started. I think this is often easier done in person rather than writing long articles.

Outdated? I doubt it. The stuff you did in PMWT was very far ahead of the majority of modders then and even today in my opinion. Maybe if you were to do a workshop on modding you could lecture on things like innovation, cost-effectiveness, where you get ideas, etc. I think people would still benefit from such a program.

@Nachoaddict : you're probably right. But I still don't think I'll be speaking about modding. This is because you really need a hands-on demonstration on modding techniques to convey a lot of techniques. That means I need a lot of tools, space, and an outlet, which we don't have with the small tables at Brea Mall. If this was a bigger gathering with a rented location, expanding more than a day's time, then I think it would be fine for modding workshops. But as it currently is, I think we should start with easier lectures/workshops.

I updated the first post with a list of people attending. Looks like we'll have between 15 and 20 people showing up depending on the maybes. Again, you don't have to be in that list of have confirmed your attendance to join the gathering. The list is to give us an idea of how many people are coming so we can try to save seats. Feel free to just show up if it turns out that you can come. As for the optional lecture/workshop, I'll be covering "training tips/techniques". I'll see what I can organize with the time I have, but it won't be a formal thing where you have to take notes or anything like that. If I have time, I'll prepare an outline for it, but don't count on it...so feel free to bring a notebook if you want.

For some reason everyone thinks the entire 405 was shut down when it was only part of it so depending on the area there might have been nothing wrong with the 405 >_> thats what i heard But yes the gathering was fun :P Learned a bunch of stuff from kam :o Can't wait until next time~
