Single capped or double capped mods and why? (made a poll now =D)

    Date: Wed, May 25 2011 08:21:27

double capped spin better mostly, but I like the "pen" aesthetic of most single capped mod

  3. AKS
    Date: Wed, May 25 2011 08:21:31

+1 for single capped. Why? because I think single capped mod is like usual pen, and I think spinning single capped mod is like the "real" pen spinning.

nah!! depends on how u like it, but i think double cap mod is better cause it balance, personally i think it is easier to learn trick

    Double Capped because of COG

I got used to spinning single capped, but I think double capped is better because you can easily determine the COG.

DC mods have better momentum but SC mods help develop style better.

+1 on hippo. Im used to spinning DC mods because they are balanced. and I spin SC mods just for practicing.,

i dunno why.. but lately.. im lovin' single capped mods!

  10. Froggy
    Date: Wed, May 25 2011 12:02:30

SC mods because its more interesting.. Different weight distribution and balance. DC mods are so perfectly balanced that.. it just feels too normal.. PrinceXD

If there's a legitly balanced SC mod that is also with equal momentum, like the minwoo mod, then I would spin those. If not, then my KT, so yeah. I like both, but DC more.

    both of them ,

I like spinning DC mods more but i like SC mods more. (lol) Basically, i like spinning my KT > my kUzu but i like the kUzu in terms of being a mod > the KT

i prefer SC mods. they always provide a new and interesting spin than boring old balanced mods.

the only reason i dont like single capped as much as double capped is because the other end of the mod doesnt have a grip and is hard to grasp when trying to attempt wipers, and not to mention that single capped mods are a tad bit short

ooohhh, tough question. sc, i like the look and plenty are balanced. plus my retard teacher doesnt call them "batons"

double capped mods for spinning, sc mods for looks, and cool style. sc mods r also more easily writable, etc. mp mods or mxs.

  19. Froggy
    Date: Fri, May 27 2011 07:04:59

negative. DC mods are way way easier to make it writeable. the barrels are wider for mechanisms to fit in.. or just write it as a marker (leave ink inside) PrinceXD

DC for spinning. but SC for looks. Firefly claimed that his firefly mod spun like an dc, but when I made it, it felt like an SC still. Maybe I made it wrong. But it'd be amazing for a SC mod that spun like DC. My favorite SC mods are Lemon and Ayatori, but the stupid thing is that there are no grips on other side of pen, so it feels awkward for some tricks and wipers. But I think that dc comssas look really cool when spun with control. But spinning them like s777 is hard

    Date: Sun, May 29 2011 23:42:31

I like sc mods better than dc because dc are too easy to spin sc mods are more unique and they all have different spinning effects dc mods spin the same

I like SC mods better. Many SC mods have good aesthetics and it is great for practicing. It is more thrilling to spin :D

  25. THENICKRULZ
    Date: Wed, Jun 1 2011 08:58:56

I like DC mods they are good to write with as well as spin. That is if both sides have ink. (You need quite a thick barrel though!)

  26. yeti
    Date: Wed, Jun 1 2011 19:35:47

I like DCed mods because of the COG and how it spins and looks

  27. Van
    Date: Wed, Jun 1 2011 20:34:19

DC for smoothness, SC for speed for me lol im trying to spin DC mods like bonkura and SC mods like toro/seven xD honestly i think SC mods look better (SEVEN MOD FTW)

  28. GeeGeeGee
    Date: Thu, Jun 2 2011 00:12:05

some people said SC gives you style. i'm like ...wtf only you could develop ur style not dc or sc will give you style. Agreeing on SC will give you the look cuz i saw bunch of sexy sc mods. DC will help you practice tricks . overall i go for DC although all my mods are sc

  29. MUSIIX
    Date: Thu, Jun 2 2011 03:46:35

I like Double Capped better cuz of the balance you get from it. Unlike Single Capped Mods, Most of the balance is focused on one side, So it's a little harder to do tricks.

Dc is better to spin, Sc looks cooler and represents more of pen spinning

  32. Apocalyptic Shadows
    Date: Wed, Aug 8 2012 10:20:41

Oh no, why did you have to revive a year old thread... Anyways, since it's revived, I like sc but it's mainly for looks and is usually less stable than dc

  33. Syrti
    Date: Wed, Aug 8 2012 13:09:55

lol Every1 who says: "DC is perfectly balanced." It is NOT: The barrel is (in most cases [like ComSsa, SuperPirat, Supertip, CE, CT, M&M, ...]) wider on one side + one side uses Backplug which is heavier than the normal tip. I prefer Dc because of flexible bodies! I sure can use them on SC as well but it loos ugly ^-^ Anyways: Sc looks much cooler <3

  34. Demon
    Date: Wed, Aug 8 2012 13:18:27

sc looks nicer imo as for balance u can also do that to ur sc mod too

  35. ...
    Date: Mon, Aug 13 2012 11:32:24

Sc looks nicer as it gives a classic pen look but DC spinner nicer as generally COP is COG

its de same.single cap just have one cap, double has two.but the spinning would still feel de same if its of the same weight.its the COG

Nope. S777 MX has two caps. :p BTW sorry not all DC mods have 2 caps. :p Just to let you know.

  38. SuperVValrus
    Date: Mon, Aug 13 2012 13:56:58

I use both. Single capped i like because of the "real pen" feeling (for some) and the customization of each pen is usually greater than that of a double capped mod. Single capped mods also improve your spinning and control of the pen because you must compensate for the imbalance of the pen (sometimes). Double capped mods obviously have more balance and usually have grips on both caps, allowing for ambidextrous wipers and easily changing the weight of a mod.

@Apocalyptic Shadows.yes,sc mods have one cap cos its catogerised under'single capped'.dc mods have two cos its categorised as 'double capped

  45. Apocalyptic Shadows
    Date: Thu, Aug 16 2012 08:21:35

I don't know. I can tell if it's SC if one side looks different from another. Because its usually SC

  46. agillitrhiz
    Date: Thu, Aug 16 2012 08:36:21

@Apocalyptic Shadows lol...he make a mod dat looks de same on each side but by using two diff caps?

agillitrhiz wrote: but the spinning would still feel de same if its of the same weight.its the COG
nope :P weight distribution and different visual appearance (yes, contrast and how visible the mod is can affect how it feels to spin), as well as different widths/textures of each side of a 'SC' or single-sided mod will make it spin differently to a DC mod of the same weight

Either one is fine to me.

SC stands for Single Capped, but in the PS community it means Single Sided mods, not the amount of caps used in the mod. Examples of some SC mods that uses more than 1 cap: Hybrid-DC-HGG Kaidan G3 (uses 3 caps - Signo Broad, Hyper Jell and PC2) Ajisai SC Akashiya S777 MX G3nerator Same goes for DC, it doesn't mean 2 capped mods, but Double Sided mods. Examples of some DC mods that doesn't use 2 caps: Namaemory DC Saturn mod Ivan ST sTEK barrel capped mods (to make sTEK barrel u need 2 ST caps already) Frog~

I like double it feels better.

  51. PERSIST
    Date: Sat, Sep 29 2012 07:15:38

I like both, but I think DC is easier to learn and perform tricks, b/c SC mods don't have grips on both sides or aren't PERFECTLY balanced and symmetrical. But SC mods can be better b/c if they're retractable, you can actually tell which side can write. I have a personal DC retractable mod, and I sometimes can't tell which side can write. SC and DC are both good, but DC is more suitable for spinning, again, PERFECTLY balanced.

double caped for spinning but single capped for aesthetics and cause it looks more like "pen spinning" than "stick spinning" lol! And I know there are some good looking double capped ones out there but single capped ones are just eye candy even to non spinners hahaha

    Date: Thu, Aug 29 2013 03:30:56

I also like both, but the problem is that most SC mods are too small for my Vicgotgame like hands. :( So I mostly spin with DC mods. ;)

RVSP fan here, single capped plus one for the style

  59. snoopy1218
    Date: Sun, Sep 1 2013 18:22:14

I am a fan of both types, but it usually depends on their cost, rather their spin-ability, that inclines me to buy them. DC mods usually cost twice as much, because of their composition (i.e. Dr. KT: TWO Dr. Grips, TWO Keityo Markers, TWO to THREE grips of your choice) versus SC mods (I.e. Key3G3: ONE G3,ONE Hyperjell, ONE Signo DX, etc.) So that's why my collection has more SC mods than DC mods. See what I mean? It'll cost almost twice as much because you hafta buy two of everything. It's even worse if you can't just buy the part you need, like from Penwish, but the entire pen. Matter of fact, all of my DC mods are either gifts from people or assembled from spare parts haha.

Sorry. A big reason why i never posted tutorials on my mods are because most of them were prototypes. I took a lot of random bits out of a huge pile of parts i had from modding so much to put those mods together. They would be very impractical to make if you didn't have the same random pile of pen parts.

actually sir i admire ur mods secret parts lololololol OT: Actually when we are talking about the balance and the momentum dc mods are better but when we are talking style and difficulties sc are the best

Wow,.you replied? Damn. Anyway I understand, I just wanted more, (and I think I speak for most) tutorials from you, especially because you are/already quit. Maybe one more mod? Ha Ha I doubt I can convince you, but if you were to make tutorials you could/would get partnership. It would attract a lot of revanue:) In any case, sorry for wasting your time @TEK, I guess with UPSB having no more modders, there are very few modders now to push the limits of pen modding. Well best of luck, and make a f***ing video man, it's been a while. At one point I thought you were dead. LOL. And again SC MODS FTW!!!!!!!!! Regards Zen
