Regular Pen Discussion / Flying With Pens

So, I'm about to go on a school trip to Washington D.C. (leaving tomorrow night) Considering that Bin Laden was killed and security has been heightened, would it still be okay for me to bring a pen mod with me? I really want to bring my waterfall with me, since I bring it everywhere. Maybe a metal comssa since it is cheaper and wont be as bad if confiscaed. I'm planning spin on the plane and maybe before I sleep. So, 2 questions. 1. Would the signo tips set off the metal detectors? 2. Is it still okay for me to bring a mod?

I fly with mine all the time, no worries mine never set off the detectors, even if it does just explain what it is, do a few tricks to show them, you'll have no problems

bring all the pen parts seperate. And for the Signos, i'd put the tips back on the bodys and put them all in a pen case.

just put them in the bag that goes through the xray, that's all I do.

I travel all the time! Dont worry! I used to worry that the people will think that those were needles or knives. But it always passes through the X ray security! Just dont put it in your pocket when you go through the metal detector. Take your pen out and put it in the container where they will be X rayed then go through the metal detector.

ofcourse you can fly with pens.. unless u made a bomb thats shaped like a mod.

well what i did when i went to korea was to put all my mods in my luggage with all my clothes... and in my carry-on backpack i put in just a rsvp mod without a metal tip. it was still good enough and spin-able and it was fine. So.. 1. I don't know? Maybe, I think the metal detector stuff just looks for knifes and bombs and that kinda stuff 2. Yes of course..

  14. Soren
    Date: Sat, May 14 2011 15:48:23

just put it in your bag when it goes thru the x ray, and then take it out of your bag when you are through

  15. Enigmatic
    Date: Sat, May 14 2011 16:02:48

I put mine in a bookbag and then took it out while i was on the plane, as long as it looks like a pen and you're not trying to hide it, you'll be fine.

lol,a little bit late, but look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFzqyBb3nwE you just need to hide it somewhere easily accessible. and yeah, I brought some mods with metal tips in them, particularly a Toro MX.

@Supergirl Read the first post. i started this thread cuz tsa security has been heightened. Bin Ladin? Ever heard of him? say dr grip. They have a sharp tip. Ive never flown with these pens until now. What if tsa decides that a strange double sided pen looks suspicious. I didnt want to start a commotion cuz i was going with my class and didnt want to cause any problems. so try not to be a dick.

Im gonna do this too on my planeride to china. i was never worried about my mods going through security (i never actually even thought of it until i saw this thread :O) i was more worried about annoying the people next to me, and getting my mod back if it drops into a place i can't reach it.

its usually fine if you leave it in a bag they might get suspicious if you have it on you, then you have to explain and it get complicated.

okay so if i put it into my luggage and not my carry-on luggage?

  33. Cloud

Would I be able to bring an airfit tipped, dr, grip griped emboss mod on a plane?

  36. PREDATORNET
    Date: Wed, Jun 29 2011 20:29:17

Ask yourself this: Why would i not be able to bring a mod on a plane? Unless you put a knife into it or soemthing, it's really not dangerous.

if ur worried about an inktube exploding take the ink tube out or bring a mod without ink i brought 2 mods on to my plane ride to japan i put them in the bin that goes through the x-ray its all good

  41. Danny116
    Date: Tue, Jul 19 2011 01:29:31

Well i guess bringing non-metal mods would really render all the worrying pointless (comssa's, ballsigns, tipless embosses, etc).....and i really doubt any security is gonno go all nuts over some metal tips o-e oh how about getting some metal paint, and write a message on a piece of paper for the xray man to read xD -bag goes through xray- "metal pen tips, not bullets, dont worry x)"

OK GUYS IT BEEN CONFIRMED. FLYING WITH PENS IS A COMPLETE NO-WORRY SITUATION. i flew through US AND china airport security (china --> us security is tighter since its going IN to the us) and i brought manymany mods, dr.grip tipped, mods with ink, sirfit tipped mods, and even a separate bag of pen tips, NO PROBLEMS. i was not stopped or questioned at all. someone may close this thread now
