Well i just use a microsoft nx 3000 , Cheap , works pretty good and the head of the camera is movable at an angle

Well...My birthday is in a few months but... I might be getting a camera, I dunno if it will be a web camera but maybe, cause it would be nice to go on mebeam. Anybody know any camera's that can be a webcam but can also be use around without a cord? If not, one that is easy to place anywhere and can swivel around. I have a laptop btw.

4. Kirby
Date: Thu, Jun 24 2010 04:52:56

with most cams, you can adjust the angle of them. Although, I would just make some kind of stand at your desk, then post the webcam on it and plug it in to the laptop. I'd get a microsoft lifecam5000

5. miyat

alright, thanks lifcam5000 eh(how canadian of me eh?lolol). ill check it out. thanks.

Does anyone know how the PS3 Eyecam works in terms of FPS and quality for psing? (hacked drivers for PC)

Is logitech c250 good?

8. Mike
Date: Thu, Jun 24 2010 07:53:39

Webcams are good, but you have to get one of the newer ones if you're looking for quality. Plus, your computer has to be able to handle it as well. I prefer camcorder over webcam though, but that's for other reasons.

Is any webcam with 30 fps good for pen spinning like there is no blur and stuff?

10. neXus
Date: Thu, Jun 24 2010 11:48:45

Blur is not always camera related, cameras work best when there is proper lightning so even the best camera can produce blurry video when the room or the area you're filming is too dark and not well lit.

nope, however, a webcam makes more sense, unless you're planning to film while biking/abroad >.<

Just like neXus said, you have to be in a well lit room to get good quality. Even if your camera is really good.

I highly reccommend the Logitech Quickcam Pro9000 (just dont drop it....I dropped it one time a distance of about 45 cm and the lens shattered T_T. now i have no cam) other than its poor lens durability, the quality is REALLY good.

14. miyat
Date: Fri, Jun 25 2010 15:43:32

alright i guess since so many people have logitech quickcam pro9000 i should get that. Whats the price?

15. asdfcrow
Date: Fri, Jun 25 2010 16:09:40

honestly, the VX series are cheaper, and I hear that baaron dropped his in milk and it survived. even vx 1000 is good.

16. xSpin
Date: Fri, Jun 25 2010 16:17:17

Get a vx5000. It's pretty cheap. And you need Sony Vegas. All you need is good lighting, then turn the exposure full down. Then record with Vegas.

17. miyat

i don't have vegas, and i dont really wanna download.

If I was to buy logitech cam would vegas or the software that comes with it be better?

20. shoeman6
Date: Fri, Jun 25 2010 22:15:03

Vegas would definitely be better... imo. It seams the "opinion" part didn't help... @XYZaki: logitech software constantly crashes, refuses to record, fails to record audio, inconsistent, and is full of redundancies which I hate. I have no in depth with sony vegas, besides using it a few times, however sony vegas seems to be a complete suite of tools along with video capturing capabilities so comparing the two, in my opinion sony vegas is better.

You don't even know what you're talking about. With Microsoft webcams, Vegas definitely records better. But, atleast with the Quickcam 9000, you should record with the software it comes with. Vegas is too choppy with it.

Yeah I chose not to see the "imo" =) And maybe your Logitech software is messed up, mine records audio every time and is definitely consistent. Also, the whole complete suite thing doesn't really matter, because after a while, you get smart and stop opening the whole program and just run "vidcap60.exe".

23. davidguy

can you still record without an editing software?

26. Mike

I think they're microsoft cams. But when you have good lighitng, you can fully turn down the exposure and it will be really smooth and the fps will be good. But if you record it on the actual cam software, it will look really weird. But recording with vegas is better, but if you have the older versions of WMM. You can use that too to capture videos With software: http://www.youtube.com/user/Danpser#p/u/2/6L3OOAztx_w @:31 With Vegas: http://www.youtube.com/user/xSpinUPSB#p/a/u/1/qOVg2_TkxQ0

I've got a quickcam pro 5000, and I face some difficulties regarding dropped frames. The overall quality is excellent, but on the average, it drops 1.7 frames per second. And it doesn't drop them one by one, but in large amounts at the same time, so that it is very noticeable. I tried with various webcam parameters, with various light arrangements (strong exposition to daylight, lamps, and so on), but it hasn't changed much. I also tried different USB ports. Does it depend on software? (I use the sony vegas recorder) On my computer? Is there anything I can do? Except shooting 10 times the same combo and pick up the one with no visible frames drop, as I did for my backaround vid. <_<

hm i use a logitech 9660

42. KTrinh93
Date: Fri, Jul 9 2010 22:06:35

personally i dont use a webcam mainly because 1) my webcam has a really bad frame rate 2) looks grainy 3) i cant adjust settings to it and 4) because its built in to the top of my laptop.. so i just use my digital camera (canon powershot a720is) and mount that on my tripod and record since the frame rate is better and its more of a camcorder than my built in laptop camera.. and the quality is awesome and since most people nowadays have digital cameras, they pretty much have available to them what is needed for decent spinning since most digital cameras have a video option that shoots 640 x 480 video at 30fps or something like that..

You can try Yawcam. Turn preview off under Window->Preview. I'm using a Netbook running on Windows 7 (Epic Lag Causer) and the video is quite smooth even with preview on, so it should work perfectly on your laptop.

you want a webcam that doesnt make your pen look laggy. I use a camera or my cell phone becuase my webcam dates back to the stone age. I once saw this webcam called 'iHome Webcam Kit' that might be worth getting :)

53. shoeman6
Date: Sun, Jul 18 2010 06:16:52

Okay, so a few weeks ago my logitech pro 9000 went completely blurry? It looks like the lens has been frosted or rendered with fibers... after some googling I found some explanations such as the lens being knocked out of place or something, which may make sense as I drop my cam sometimes... Is there anything I can do? Could this be a software thing? It seems as though I can't focus OUT enough, has anyone else had this problem?

Knock it in the opposite direction? nah nah, but seriously, I'd take it in to best buy or w/e and see if you can get it fixed/whatever they recommend.

logitech 9000 is kind of out dated now tehres a new generation of logitech cams check it out at there website logitech.com you might consider buying one of those, or even a non webcam camera. Also remember video quality depends highly on your computers power as well as the components in the cam itself. :]

If you have the money you could get a Sony HDR cx150 camcorder. I use this camera to film my youtube videos. It's a little expensive but it shoots full 1080p HD and can shoot up to 60 fps even in low light conditions. This is truly one of the best camcorders out there and I love it !!! If you do get this camera, be sure to use Sony Vegas movie studio HD to edit your videos.Movie editing software not made by Sony usually does not work with this camera.

with most cams, you can adjust the angle of them. Although, I would just make some kind of stand at your desk,Video pen spinning then post the webcam on it and plug it in to the laptop. I'd get a microsoft lifecam5000

@Wee Xin: Looks like your cam doesn't properly focus on your hand. Look into your manual how to change focus mode or set it to manual mode and focus manually. And try to use another light source that doesn't flicker that much, like for example natural light. That way you should accomplish much better videos than with most webcams (sun)

Before considering buying a webcam you better read this article, which is kinda true. However, 4 years have passed since 2008 that I bought my laptop and the aricle was writen, so I guess the things will be a lot better now, especially with all those overpowered CPU's we got. Well I guess for penspinning, anything equal or bigger than 30 fps is ok. And by that I mean 30 fps for real, not what the camera box says. I do not think there is a particular difference between 30 and 60 fps when recording, except if you want to slow-mo it later. Just a general advice to everybody, before buying a camera, search if it can reach 30 fps at a desired image size, because usually companies count fps in the least available resolution(around 160x120) which is PRETTY small. This is general info for web cameras you guys need to know.

thats false, i am good with computers and i have been able to use my psI cam for my laptop for a long time, the fps is ok for skype and other things but recording is bad. unless you find and outside program than can record with the cams full fps, then it has a use

Canon 60D is DSLR camera so it's quite expensive, especially if you use it only for filming ps video. But the video quality from its is really great. You can choose which quality(1080p, 720p with 24, 25, 30fps) you want.

Hello. I'm looking for a new camera so I want good optics, my old S2 had some decent optics but frankly I'm feeling let down by cameras not letting me work with exposure and lighting so that I can get the best results. I wouldn't mind not having to adjust these if the camera was actually good quality, so I have a few things considered: First I've been looking at getting a GoPro, because I like the wide angle lens and the quality is outstanding, it is also very versatile and will connect to my new tablet or my phone with an app. Second, I could get a DSLR and use the video features on it to film, but I would need some examples of a DSLR working with spinning as I know the details that need to be recorded with pen spinning really can't be compared to anything else that would normally be filmed with such a camera. Lastly, if it would give the absolute best quality, I could consider the Canon XL1: I've held and used one before, my father used to use one and I know he has one lying around in his old house that hasn't been touched or used. The issue being that I would probably still have to buy a new one, which would cost £300, and then the issue is that the camera uses TAPE reels, which makes things awkward.

Personally, i would recommend a GoPro @Ceru Seiyu. I watched test videos of the camera and it has an amazing quality camera, Full HD, wide lens and it is very convenient because ability to connects to tablets and phones (etc. etc. like you said...). In addition, it is much is easier to take somewhere (Like to a gathering or something) because of it's very small size compared to Canon XL1. Finally, it is the cheapest out of the three.

It is a very good camera. With better lighting A13x's spinning would have looked a lot better. :)

fiiine you want a good kernel but don't want to break every windows app? Install Linux Mint. You could even dual boot windows and Mac OS you know instead of buying a new camera iirc.
