A: Definitely worth the cost, not to heavy and not too light at 14g. Great length (20cm) for momentum. Also looks completely badass. ^_^

I say no, but thats just me. It spins OK, I just hate g3 mods and light mods. Not too much momentum but its OK. I dont think its worth 20-25.

You could make a bunch of tapecut around a pen body so it has the round feel of a grip.

Yup Dr Means "Doctor" It is called dr cuz it uses Dr.Grip mechanical pencil. The reason why they is the dr in the pencil name is that the dr.grip pencil was actually originally used to prevent arthritis in the hands and help reduce writing pressure and thus better for your health.~

What exactly is a freestyle? Is it a combo you craft out in a short period of time and try to film it after or a combo that just flows from your reflexes and natural finger motions?

13. crinix
Date: Mon, Sep 13 2010 13:45:35

I believe it's a combo which is done without planned and worked on it, just with reflexes.

What is the definition of a hybrid? What makes a chain of tricks called hybrid rather than combo? Thanks~ PrinceXD~

42. k-ryder
Date: Sun, Nov 21 2010 02:05:53

hybrids are when i trick is not fully completed before moving onto the next trick in the hybrid, or "interrupted" ie. for a devil's sonic, you do a sonic from 34 to 23, but before you catch the pen in 23, you do a pass rev from 24 to 12 although some "hybrids" dont have interrupted tricks, like warped sonic (charge 12 > pass 12 23) (not entirely sure but) these tricks were invented before they invented the notion of a hybrid, therefore it was named as a "new trick" even though it could be broken down to smaller tricks in saying that, all hybrids can be broken down into smaller tricks (either complete or interupted) as again, they were "invented" before the notion of hybrids came about i personally dont like hybrid naming, as its just another bunch of names i have to learn, even at 2 years, i wouldn't know what to do if i saw inverse warped sonic rev in a breakdown i would much rather it be written "Charge Reverse 23 ~> Pass Normal 23-12 " (had to look that up in the wiki) but thats just my opinion this post was superfluously long, wasn't it?

43. A.Sate
Date: Sun, Nov 21 2010 05:47:35

Actually, I believe the Warped Sonic is a combo. None of the tricks are interrupted in it, and IIRC the wiki has it in the combo category. Now my turn for a nooby question: Whats the difference between a mini-combo and linkage?

44. Hippo2626
Date: Sun, Nov 21 2010 23:39:58

@A.Sate A linkage how you do two consecutive tricks in a row like inverse shadow ~ wessian bak or idex around -> pass rev a mini combo is several tricks done together and the whole thing is below 7 or 10 seconds like K4LC or bakfall

48. SuiXidaL

Date: Wed, Dec 1 2010 00:09:27

@Darealone You can use Paypal or if you can't, you can send your money by mail. A warning though, money by mail is not really safe. There are some risks involved. The person who sends first is usually indicated by the number of feedback or unless the seller says that money is sent first. Then, you send the money, they send the pens when they receive it and everyone's happy. xD

Is it better to spin thicker pens or thinner ones?

57. k-ryder
Date: Thu, Dec 16 2010 03:37:51

it all depends on preference, but also the weight of the tips/ends if it has really heavy tips, and a thin barrel, you wont get enough momentum built up to push the weight around, so it would feel like more work thicker barrels give you more of a lever, therefore, it is easier to push. thats why busters work well, but not airfit tipped bics; the supertip barrel is thicker than the bic on the other hand, having a thick barrel, but hardly any weight will also have the same effect as heavy and thin (i think) so generally, the weight and barrel thickness should be relatively proportioned

59. strat1227

It's possible to do any tricks on that length pen, but it will be MUCH harder to learn them, especially ones that are dependent on momentum. It's easiest to learn tricks on something long then apply it to shorter pens

I'd see people pen spinning and when they are palm down it makes me wonder how they do it. I guess it's just practice, but my friend and I are around the same level and he can go palm down and I can't. It's rather frustrating to try to do a twisted sonic bust palm sideways. Although I cam do it. The only trick that I can do palm down is sonic and shadow. Also I'd like to know if it looks better palm up or down. So yeah.

I had the same problem. Some tricks are done palm down, some palm sideways/up. Just get used to doing things palm down, you'll need it. Also, twisted sonic bust you pretty much have to do palm down because you can't do more than one without being palm down

81. MystikSun
Date: Tue, Jan 18 2011 01:05:12

I don't see a need to do a twisted sonic bust sideways either. There's always an option in a combo to switch between palm up and palm down anyway.

Stall could be presented in a couple of ways but I wouldn't call it a stall the i-sonic ;). You are still holding it, like it is carried by you or invisible -__-, so it is not just over any finger like the stall -_-.

Is this still a considered a flush sonic? It starts out as sonic 34, and then it goes it 14, and then catch in 32. I'll make a quick video.

98. Hippo2626
Date: Mon, Feb 28 2011 04:38:32

@Riley No in my opinion. The idea behind the trick you described is the same as a flush sonic, you you have a pass, sonic and inverse sonic with the key aspect of the 14 part but flush sonics were a designated name to the original trick. Would you consider a pass rev. 34-12 -> charge 12 -> pass 12-23 a double charge? Of course in the evolution of PSing since then, flush sonics are considered tricks containing sonics, inverse sonics and passes hybrids so in some sense it can be considered a flush sonics. The official naming of it is very foggy though.

Twisted sonic = Charge 23 interrupted by a pass reverse 23-12 Warped Sonic = Charge 12 ~ Pass 12-23. So it is: Charge 23, pass reverse 23-12, charge 12, pass 12-23 So when you are done with the pass reverse 23-12, it should be finishing the charge in 12, BUT if you do the pass 12-23 without the charge, IT IS A Double Charge, which is: Twisted Sonic ~ Pass 12-23 ;)

103. Hippo2626
Date: Tue, Mar 15 2011 02:28:13

I think your referring to Double charge. It isn't, there is an extra charge in the Twisted Sonic 23-12 --> Warped Sonic 23-12. A Double Charge is A Tw. Soinc 23-12 -> Pass 12-23. Also, seeing as you are new please search before you post: http://forum.upsb.info/showthread.php?t=50

I'm new to pen spinning and im trying to do this simple linkage: Sonic > TA But after i've finished the sonic i have to move my middle finger behind the pen. This makes the combo look crappy because there is a little pause between the tricks. The same thing happens when i try Twisted sonic > TA. How can i make it more smooth?

The idea has come up a lot of times but can you find a dedicated group of people who would take the time to do it?

124. Josh
Date: Sat, May 7 2011 18:32:54

Well it would be (relatively) easy for Penwish to do it, just by measuring & weighing every new inventory item that comes in. They wouldn't have to go through their WHOLE current inventory, they could just grab their 25 best-selling pens and do it in half an hour, and then it's just a matter of measuring/weighing every new pen that comes in. It would increase sales, I'm pretty sure - I have particularly large hands and if I saw a mod that had really good reviews and the length/weight I know I like, I'd definitely be more likely to buy it. Really I should keep this idea to myself and open my own pen shop :P.

Alright I feel really stupid asking this, but what exactly are linkages? I hear about them a lot and would like to know what they are. I tried searching but couldn't find anything. I even tried the wiki. Thanks! (Might be in the wrong section...)

its the way a combo is put together. How the tricks you do are "linked" together, hence the linking of these tricks become known as linkages.

What exactly are linkages?

Date: Thu, Feb 2 2012 05:21:43

Its hard to explain. Its kinda like a series of tricks tied together. Difficult linkages means that the difficulty of the tricks tied together is high and hard to do. Its one of those terms that you dont really understand but know.

For the most part, pen spinning consists of single tricks. When those tricks are put or "linked" together you get a combo. The transition from one trick to another, whether it's in a combo or not, would be what you consider a linkage.

I get confused with Bust and Around. Around is the trick that you do when you do twisted Sonic Bust right? And Bust is something entirely different right? so why do they call it Twisted sonic BUST!:?

198. Alvaris
Date: Tue, Feb 5 2013 07:54:57

bust = fl around(with hand facing downwards as done in twisted sonic bust) around = around

It's actually a backaround rev is a bust, when you do twisted sonic bust you are doing a bust.

A few tricks linked together. A combo could consist of Linkage 1 > Filler > Linkage 2> Filler.. etc. Fillers are generally passes or sonics.

well there just diffrent tricks lol. a twisted sonic is a .5 revolution charge with a pass rev. the warped sonic is a .5 revolution charge with a pass. then, a double charge is a twisted sonic and then a pass and it can also be repeated. hope this helped ^^

I thought u should do it with your palm facing you? And the momentum comes when u do the flick at your wrist. The pen then goes one revolution.

Sounds like youre keeping your index finger too low so the pen rotates on top of it instead of going around it.

Pencils are fine while starting. Start with tricks like TA and sonic and fingerpass. If you get frustrated on a trick move onto another one and come back later. Keep at it and you will rapidly learn lots of tricks. God Bless ^_^

Linking normal and reverse tricks. I know that to link normal and reverse tricks you have to switch from pd - pu/ps, but does that mean that you have to always perform normal tricks pd and reverse tricks pu, i've tried and haven't been able to link pu normal tricks with pd reverse tricks. Also how would you link pd normal tricks into pu normal tricks. There's probably something obvious I'm missing but it's really puzzling me.
