    If you have the item, you automatically have the effects. You don't need other items for that. As long as you complete the item, like say, Infinity Edge, you have the passive ability that Critical Hits deal 250% damage instead of 200%. And also the stat increases. +75 Attack Damage / +20% Critical Strike

    Then why does it have that tree diagram thing with all the other items under it and says "REQUIRES" in big red letters when you buy it..?

    When you buy the thing at the end of that diagram the other items are "inside" that item.
