Off-topic / Why do people like cats?

This is something I have wondered for a long time, why would anyone hold a cat in their house when dogs exist. A cat is nothing but a furry asshole with 4 legs. They don't care about you at all except for when they are hungry or want you to open doors for them. They sleep all day and when they don't they harass you by sitting on your arm, the keyboard or in front of the monitor. A dog is happy to see you when you come home, yes partially because he likes food and you provide that, but also because he missed you (watch videos of soldiers and their dogs reuniting and try not to tear up). A cat will look if you come home but only to identify that noise that was coming from the door. You can play with a dog, he will bring back the ball you throw. I have never seen a cat do this. They will enjoy boxes and lint but they will enjoy it by themselves like the selfish dicks they are. Why does anyone like cats, they are the most retarded pet to have.

I got some cats that loves bringing me things I throw, it all depends on the cats personality, some are like you describe, while some are the complete opposite, they always want to cuddle, they avoid sitting on you and rather sit right next to you. I got some cats that are a little catious, but when you get to cuddle with them for a sec, they're purring as hell, and then i got some cats that walks up on you (usually on a table or something around waist height) and pokes you, with the message that they want to cuddle, if you stop, they poke you again, about the keyboard thing, it doesnt happen with the older cats, since they've been raised not to be there, but when they get kittens you may have a kitten hunting your cursor across the screen. Like I said, all cats got different personalities, you just had the misfortune to see the bad side of them... -

I like cats, they are laid back, dogs on the other hand need constant attention, cats just laze around the house and dont shit on thefront lawn, dont smell, and dont drool

Then why have them. What's the point of paying for a house guest that you can't talk with. A dog you can do something with, there's a reason you have it as a pet. -

I love this thread. I hate cats. Dogs are where its at. You dont hear people going "oh my gawddd look at that stray cat!!!" No. They like fucking puppies. Kittens are cute to some extent, until they grow up that is

I have both. So, I can give a fair opinion on each :P Currently I have a miniature beagle, it's adorable. It runs around my house and jumps on me when I get home from school or whatever. It is nice to sit down with it on the couch and watch a movie. But it gets so annoying sometimes. It's always whimpering whenever I'm trying to do something and not paying attention to it and it always needs to be walked and takes up like half of my bed ._. And it's not very active tho, pretty much lays around my house. Eats alot of my stuff too >_> I still like it alot though. I got my cat like 10 years ago. It is undoubtedly much easier to take care of. Mainly cuz my dad made it live outside >_> But it is very friendly and enjoys playing despite common misconceptions. Even thuogh it is old, it is all ninja. It climbs up my giant fences and catches birds that wander into my backyard. I found it playing with a dead parrot the other day xD And my dog gets beat up by my cat ._. It's probably cuz my cat still has claws. Thus my dog is afraid to go outside when my cat is near the door. Anyway, I like dogs and cats but cats are more chill. Dogs require so much attention and cleaning up. and argueing over this is kinda pointless, it all depends on what kind of person you are.

I'm more of a dog person but I wouldn't mind owning a cat. I like when they act all ninja and disappear. AND THEY'RE SOOOO FLUFFFYYY. They're low maintenance. And Lovable.

I have a cat. When I get my own place I don't think I'll have any pets though. They are a lot of work and responsibility and they have 0 utility.
