General Discussion / When is it not appropriate to spin?

Ata funeral? At a graduation? Is it always appropriate? I find spinning in a non-conventional place aka, home or school, may draw to much attention. Is the versatility of the "pen" make it more appropriate to spin in places where other forms of manipulation may just seem strange, aka rubiks cube, juggling, poi.

There are some situations where pen spinning would be inappropriate. Such as if you are, as said, at a funeral, or if your doing a presentation at a board meeting or something. But then yes pen spinning is versatile and there are numerous more situations where popping out your pen and giving it a quick flick would be fine.

I think classroom spinning should be allowed, maybe not in an obtrusive way, but most of the time if you're not disturbing class in anyway no one bothers you.

during test i have to spin or i cant concentrate, and most of the time during lectures i have to spin (it wont be hardcore it'll just be like a thumbaround harmonic)

i believe as long as it does not bother anyone it is fine. so if a teacher of mine were to be bothered by my spinning i would not spin in his/her class. if i can i would do so not so much as to get attention but for whatever means it may bring me such as concentration stated earlier.

I catch myself spinning without even knowing it during lectures in my left hand while listening or taking notes with my right hand @ the same time. The only time I find that it is inappropriate is when I am having a 1-on-1 conversation with figures of authority (such as principal) or when it is during a test. But I will sometimes spin during a test over my lap instead of over my desk. And obviously funerals. :innocent:

Not when you are taking a dump. Not in the hospital. Aka any medical place (dentist, getting surgery, giving birth) Not when having sexual intercourse. Not when do a sport, cause it would be hard to concentrate. Not when fighting some other guy.

Your girlfriend should be supportive of your habits, or at least accepting, if shes trying to make you not spin shes being controlling. unless you are spending so much time spinning around her that you are ignoring her, in which case it would be hilarious Anyway back on topic, just use common sense, formal situations I would say no spinning at all, then others you can get away with a bit, then others where you can just spin as much as you want. -

This. Did it once with my MX (hospital), every drop was more "eww, bacteria". :whut: In restaurants, after getting your meal. It's ok to spin when you're waiting for it imo (well, still depends on the type of restaurant you're visiting). -

Most of the time, people don't realize how much there is to pen spinning and assume you're just fiddling with it without thinking, which isn't much of a distraction. Kind of like spinning your phone on your desk. You'd be amazed at how much you can get away with.

I fail to see how pen spinning is considered "Distracting" Unless you are dropping it literally even 30 seconds, I don't think the physical act of spinning it could mesmerize someone so much that they refuse to acknowledge the real world around them. And if that does become possible I would be more concerned with that persons state of mental health than a pen. I also don't get how it can't make you concentrate. Unless you are actively filming your 523th day solo while you're in class I don't think a double charge could hurt...

maybe when an elevator is opening because my RSVP MX went down the whole that is between the elevator and the ground. :( But I got it back just because I work there :). Also, maybe in a church or a funeral.

Fail, I was there. Spinning in a movie theater is bad too. Even when you are trying to show off your cool LED pen. You will most likely drop it and it will roll severall rows of seats in front of you and the movie will conveniently start =.= -

Topspins would be impossible, they'd float away, and if you had any tape, it will be ruined. If you had an insert, it will be ruined. If you had a tip on it, it would most likely come off. It's not fun looking for a tiny tip underwater. -

Whenever I spin in class, and I drop it, I freak out. This takes the distraction out of the pen dropping noise.
