Yea, since there's several of us that are starting this workout (strat, colin and me), I thought, why not make a thread about this? We can discuss progress, tips, and any other information pertaining to this program/working out in general.

  2. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:21:31

I'm just about to start the fit test now and begin the insanity program :D i'm so excited about this lol

  3. strat1227

haha lemme know the fit test goes, it's pretty fucking rough lol i finished the whole thing but i pretty much passed out after

  4. TheAafg
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:28:35

are there like age restrictions on trying this?

  5. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:35:49

hmm i dunno but you're supposed to be in good shape already before you start or else you'll die lol

  6. poisoned
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:38:25

I would do it if I had 120 dollars to give up...

  7. TheAafg
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:40:57

@poisoned what do you think torrents are for ?

  8. poisoned
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:45:02

Downloading torrents are a pain in the ass on a mac. Also it seems like there at 60 different 30-45 minute long video clips. It would take forever to find all of them and then take like 30 gigs of space.

  9. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:58:36

the whole thing is only 4 gigs. its 14 30-minute long videos just finished the fit test. it was brutalll switch kicks, globe jumps, and suicide jumps were my worst loool. man, I'm so out of shape lool. I was resting 25% of the time when i was supposed to be exercising haha for the very last exercise, the low plank oblique, i only managed to get 15 or 16 xD so tiring

  10. Mike
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 01:59:18

My friend's cousin torrented the videos, then his girlfriend's mom bought the DVD's for him. My friend and I are going to do this over the summer :)

  11. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:01:51

@Loanshark haha yeah it's brutal, i managed to keep going through the whole thing but definitely by the end i wasn't going anywhere near as fast the fit test isn't as hard as the real ones though haha, i can't go nonstop through the real videos, by the end i'm dead

  12. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:11:37

@strat1227 omg my lower legs are still throbbing 15 minutes after i finished hahaha. care to share your numbers for the first fit test? xD

  13. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:13:12

    @Loanshark haha yeah when you wake up tomorrow you won't be able to walk ;) it's like that for at least the first 5 days haha 1: 104 2: 55 3: 78 4: 30 5: 10 (sets) 6: 9 (omg those hurt so much) 7: 16 8: 30

  16. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:19:01

@Loanshark haha you did pretty good on power jacks and globe jumps, those are rough on me for some reason, whenever he gets to globe jumps in the full workout vids i practically start crying lol

  17. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:23:19

@strat1227 yea i'm pretty decent with jumps, but somehow i just absolutely fail at switch kicks lool. it was the very first workout and i was already practically out of breath imo i think the low plank obliques are hardest. i can't even keep that still position for more than 10 minutes without my arms failing i'm just wondering how the hell you go so many switch kicks. i didnt count any of my kicks that werent decently high

  18. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:25:21

@Loanshark wait until you do low plank sprinting .... omg

  19. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:33:05

@strat1227 omg anything that involves low plank is going to kill me D: btw what do you usually wear when you workout? for the fit test, i did it barefoot on a rug .___. i guess i'm supposed to wear sneakers? lol

  20. VendettaBF

@Loanshark: i usually am barefoot on my bedroom carpet, but starting tomorrow i'm wearing shoes, it's starting to rub my feet raw

  22. Mystic
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:52:27

Oh awesome! When I get my computer working im so trying this.

  23. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 02:58:55

@Loanshark what they're doing around 15 seconds is low plank sprints, only that's at warmup speed, you gotta go way faster during the real thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSccVzdYhmI&extcmp=18203829144&ef_id=9Y9NJirJBQABAyg:20110113025739:s edit: hahah at 55 those are impossibly hard, hurts so bad

  24. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 03:01:05

@strat1227 yea i wanna start wearing shoes, but i workout upstairs in the living room and i'll probably shake the house if i seriously start working ._. damnn, how do you guys get so many switch kicks?

  25. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 03:04:45

did you guys print out the schedule? i actually started on a sunday so it would line up, i get recovery on wednesdays (the easy one mostly stretching) and saturdays off if you guys started today then you get recovery on saturdays and tuesdays off

  26. VendettaBF
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 04:48:16

yeh i rest on sat. i pushed myself, shaun t is amazing! xD

  27. Zombo
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 07:28:28

so... are you guys changing your diet too? i dont think a workout like that is possible if you drink sufficient "energy" drinks or something

  28. DLSpins
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 14:27:55

if you want something intense take a plate and push it across a carpet its hard as carp

  29. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 15:34:35

Zombo wrote: so... are you guys changing your diet too? i dont think a workout like that is possible if you drink sufficient "energy" drinks or something
@Zombo dunno about them but i have a pretty good diet already as long as you don't undereat and you stay nourished then it doesn't matter much for maximum results yeah you have to eat protein and muscle milk and that shit but that's only if you're trying to get huge muscles, i dont' really care about that

  30. Zombo
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 16:55:52

what i mean is i think you can't physically finish those workouts if you dont drink the special drinks? anyway, I think diet is 80% of the factors to lose weight and stay fit, so if you do the exercice it doesn't really help if your diet sucks

  31. Loanshark
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 18:04:23

@Zombo i just drink 2 bottles of water throughout each exercise and that seemed to be fine for me

  32. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 13 2011 21:17:01

@Zombo dunno maybe that's true for most people but like i said my weight fluctuates literally 50 pounds depending on how much i exercise, never changing my diet i've been as low as 155 when i worked out every day and as high as 215 when i never worked out at all, always eating the same foods EDIT: by the way guys, i probably have to punk out for today :( i played in a 3v3 bball tournament today and was playing for 4 hours nonstop, i'm too exhausted for insanity D:

  33. VendettaBF
    Date: Fri, Jan 14 2011 01:26:28

i thought this thing was just to burn calories. so if u eat within the daily recommended, it's fine right?

  34. strat1227
    Date: Fri, Jan 14 2011 01:28:23

bf yeah you'll be fine, you don't need special shakes or anything these are hard but not as hard as football practices in texas lol, and all we got was water for that

  35. TheAafg
    Date: Fri, Jan 14 2011 01:31:49

@strat1227 i am thinking of getting this, torrent ofc is it a good idea?

  36. strat1227
    Date: Fri, Jan 14 2011 01:40:06

lol i only started doing it because i stopped having time to play basketball every day you guys the best way to get in shape isn't one of these schemes it's to go play a sport for a few hours every day, that's what i used to do no time this semester though so i had to find something to replace it

  37. VendettaBF
    Date: Fri, Jan 14 2011 01:57:03

  47. VendettaBF
    Date: Wed, Jan 19 2011 06:12:11

i have not done anything after the fitness test ;P

  48. strat1227
    Date: Mon, Jan 24 2011 20:07:57

@Colin anybody still doing this? i still do it on days i don't play basketball, but that's rarely, ive had time recently so i play about 3 hours of bball a day

  49. Zombo
    Date: Mon, Jan 24 2011 20:16:13

looks like psers give up their non-ps related projects after a week too

  50. Loanshark
    Date: Mon, Jan 24 2011 21:05:06

Mehh, 6 hour drama rehearsals are tiring lol I haven't quit the workout and i don't intend to but I definitely have not been doing it everyday xD more like every other day now

  51. Colin
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 01:05:05

@strat1227 I havent worked out in like 2 weeks; no time. 01-22, SATs 01-23, Library the whole fucking day (11-6) 01-24, Presentation, Physics project 01-25--01-28, Finals 01-29--01-30, work 01-31--Possibly a day to work out?! :o

  52. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 02:15:59

LOL 11-6 the whole fucking day, good one

  53. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 02:17:28

Zombo wrote: looks like psers give up their non-ps related projects after a week too
lol my goal was to work out everyday and i didn't give that up, just how i work out changes depending on how much free time i have

  54. Loanshark
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 03:16:26

My original goal was just to finish this program lolol I'm confident that i'll finish it, just in double the time xD

  55. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 14:44:17

lol that doesn't do much good that's like saying "i'm going to eat healthy, i'll just eat healthy only on mondays and eat shitty other days, so i'll get healthy eventually just 7x the time" haha

  56. neXus
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 15:12:39

I don't think it's like that at all with working out. You can work out 5 days a week or you can work out twice a week, either way it's better than working out 0 days of the week.

  57. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 15:44:13

yeah and eating healthy 2 days a week is better than eating healthy 0 days a week, exactly the same

  58. Zombo
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 16:34:50

there are some studies that show that the concept of cheat day is beneficial, but obviously it only works if you work out/eat most of the days

  59. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 18:34:42

yeah this workout has one day off and one slower day so 3 hard days -> day off -> 2 hard days -> easy day -> repeat

  60. neXus
    Date: Tue, Jan 25 2011 19:52:28

strat1227 wrote: yeah and eating healthy 2 days a week is better than eating healthy 0 days a week, exactly the same
I am no fitness expert, but the program does look intense enough that you would get the majority of the health benefits exercise even if you only do it half as much as recommended. There is a cut off point were more physical activity doesn't make you more "healthy", just lets you burn more calories and be able to perform better. Really depends on his goals, but to imply that doing it every second day is pointless is a bit inaccurate I feel. You can do it like that Loanshark, just don't expect to get results as advertised, although its a lot better than no exercise at all.

    Date: Sat, Feb 19 2011 05:18:33

Seeing how no one has posted in this thread in weeks I'll assume that most of the initial momentum has fizzeld out. In any case, I'm currently going into week 4 of P90x, not as "intense" But I think it's more manageable than insanity would have been. About an hour a day, and you can supplement it with any other normal activity you do. Maybe I'll do insanity for round 2 :] Anyways, I'm interested in if anyone of you have completed insanity or have actually stuck with the program. (and what do you think of it if you have...)
