There are big semi annual gatherings in socal, and smallers semi annual ones on norcal. Though norcal does occasionally have mini gatherings.

PillarsofValhalla and CaptainGolfBall are in Red Bluff (?) I believe. I don't think BART reaches Sac, you'd have to switch on to the Berk-Davis shuttle or take Amtrak.

Dude, LA > Brea is one hour. That's as close as gatherings get. Even up here in NorCal, we regularly take 1 hour of transportation to get to gatherings.
