loljapan from what i can tell, it's a semi transparent/translucent projector screen placed in front of the crowd (look carefully at 2:07, there is definitely a medium). miku is projected using i guess some sort of special light that responds well with the the material of the projector screen. it gives the illusion that miku is "there" and there is a band playing behind her I'm assuming if the camera angle was tilted enough to the side you would still be able to see visible distortion of the image since it is in reality still 2d :|

yup thats polished glass because if u look carefully u can see the reflection of the glowsticks...
