Yeap..like 2 months after building my first computer, I want to build another one. LOL Im thinking of building a Theater PC for my room; High (not decent, and not Crysis 2 on motherfuckin High) quality graphics, and not lagging. Im also thinking of switching out some parts from my OLD PC to this new one. Now, I dont want a theater PC CASE, or anything to do with it. I want a tower, this is just for games, movies, and porn in my room. The first computer I build is gonna be out here Here's my plan so far: I wanted to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849&cm_re=AMD_x6-_-19-103-849-_-Product to replace my current Phenom II X4 BE, and use the Quad core for my theater PC. Or just get the same cpu? I am going to use my old case and psu for my theather pc, and getting a psu and case for my gaming pc. I was thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133094 for the case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371026&cm_re=750w_psu-_-17-371-026-_-Product for psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145304&cm_re=1tb_sata-_-22-145-304-_-Product for hdd on my theater pc. RAM, Mobo, and GFX cards are all debateable at this point. @JLSpinY I could use your advice My budget here is around 7-800 USD comments? I could use some suggestions here

Case: HAF Mid-tower: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233 $59.99 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727 $159.99 CPU Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131366 $99 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231180 $54.99 Should be more than sufficient for a home theater box HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 (Hitachi drives are shit btw and don't have solid warranty's) Video card: 5770: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161348 $129.99 ($100 after rebate) PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171038 $49.99 Blu-ray drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151222 $74.99 (HTPC, figured it should probably support blu-ray at least) $758.84 How's that? Side-notes: A 750w PSU is HORRIBLY over kill for what you're running on your 12v rail. Like 550 will cover everything no problem lol.

Thanks iMatt :D Im gonna stick to the case that I chose though :3 I dont really need such a large and bulky case, and the one I chose is cheaper LOL the vga card isnt the 5770, its like a 6850 Also, another question. My timing on the ram im using right now is 4-4-4-12, (or something along those lines) as opposed to the G.Skill's 8-8-8-21. Is that bad? My friend told me the lower the better cause it runs faster or something In addition to the ram, I see a LOT of RMA's in the feedback :\

Pretty good, but I would settle with at least a TB. Plus you still need the GPU.

Unless you have an extremely large amount of porn/ movie 500GB should be fine :p You can always upgrade if you need more anyway. The timings of the RAM you're using now are low as they are DDR2. The Gskills are better as they are DDR3. The lower latency = faster rule only really works for RAM that is the same DDR type. HDD wise get the Samsung F3. It's really awesome.

Yes, yes, yes. That's the GPU I'm getting for my build :)

You can't get the same latency on DDR3 ram like you can on DDR2. The reason being is the memory bandwidth itself was expanded. CAS is somewhat negligible with DDR3. If this was a hardcore gaming/photoshop/rendering box I'd recommend a higher quality RAM, but it isn't so that's my reasoning. Why spend more for something you wouldn't even utilize? Btw, CAS doesn't just make a machine faster, it's only used when it's required. Just means how fast an application can find where it's reading/writing to. Only in memory intensive apps/games/etc. will you see the performance boost (even then it's not by much). Regarding the RMA's. Almost every mobo (except the x58 sabertooth) has a 50% chance of coming DOA. That's just the reality of motherboards right now.

How about we use this thread to discuss fantasy builds, and/or future builds? I already posted mine :D
