What do you guys use to listen to music/watch videos, etc? Do you customize it? skin it? or just run out of the box? I use vlc but with no window, running entirely in background and controlled by mouse gestures

vlc makes alot of changes to the registry that arent removed on un-install, there are alot better players then vlc. I use combined community codec pack (cccp) which comes with media player classic which is a very easy to use but advanced player for experienced users. The codec will run any file type you can come across and easy enough to install. As for music, winamp will always be my favorite.

i use vlc for man, it hasn't failed me thus far, so i probably wont change it for music, itunes, its native to mac, so it doesn't crash/run uber slow would maybe like to find alternative, seeing as i'll be migrating to a macbook pretty soon edit: i'm not much of a skins/customisation person (atleast for media players), as long as it can configure keyboard shortcuts (or easy to learn shortcuts for every function) thats all i need

I use VLC to watch videos since it supports literally almost every video format out there. For music, I use iTunes. I have it set so that Audio files play on iTunes for default. I hate having more than one music player because then that sort of arrangement get's fucked up.

Mike;41979]I use VLC to watch videos since it supports literally almost every video format out there.[/QUOTE] Yeah VLC has always worked, there was a brief period when there was no .flv support but they fixed that. And I was surprised when it could read .wbmp files. [QUOTE=zweebna wrote: For videos VLC, for music, MediaMonkey.
Story of my life. Only thing I don't like about MediaMonkey is the lack of decent looking skins. Other than that, the auto tag features and other ID3 tag management stuff abides with the rules of my OCD perfectly.

foobar2k is what I used when I had windows, you can program it to auto-lookup and display lyrics and shit like that, pretty cool

VLC for music and video. Just don't like the buff process. :/ Oftentimes I use iTunes for music P.S. VLC doesn't support .amr (at least mine doesn't. didn't update it yet)

I use Wolfland Media Player. I'm yet to find a music/video format it cannot read AND it can display and edit photos AND do basic video editing AND it's FREEWARE! It's fantastic!

Also some VLC for some slightly niche controls of videos.

Winamp for music, been using it for 5+ years. It's alright, I just don't handle change very well so I don't switch. MPC and GOM player for videos. I don't even know why I have or use two... I do use both of them equally =\

I'm pretty sure I've been able to play .amr with VLC, but IIRC, vegas can read it for sure.

Wow, thanks Zombo 8) The facet selection / libary viewer selection combination really works well. Wasted a lot of potential with my old setup. Music - foobar2000 by far Video - mpc hc / mpc cccp (alternatively I use VLC, but the subtitle rendering sucks :/ )
