you can PM a mod to delete your post, if any member could do it they could break the rules then delete it and we wouldn't be able to tell

Mods could be sent an auto PM with the post being deleted (maybe with even a reason why), to solve that problem at least. I love the idea.

It's much better without delete post. Besides, you can always edit your post to *delete me* if you didn't mean to post there.

well what about just having a delete button, and the mods are sent a pm for the deletion to be approved?

what is the advantage of that? we'd have the write the script and implement it, when all it does is exactly what a member could do just as easily plus it's a lot easier to ignore an automated PM than a personal one, personal ones always get faster responses

why don't you just let a member delete his own post, and subtract from the post count (i know its important to some ppl). I've done a lot of posts I would like to delete....(Imma noobie)

lol again, if anyone can point out even ONE advantage to that over just editing the content out and changing it to "delete me" or whatever, then i'm sure we'll consider it, but i've still not heard one compelling reason

you can report your own posts. you wont get "infractions" or whatever if you report your posts for deleting wrong stuff. -

Actualy, just reporting your own posts to a mod to delete it seems much better than any other option. Giving members the delete button, even with the automated PM stuff, I anticipate mods will get flooded. :/ P.S. i did this once. To make sure it gets deleted, just send some pm to all the staff, with some sort of notice that you CC'd it to all of them in the message, or report it.
