=========================== Stats: 20cm 14g =========================== Key3 G3 Mod - aka - G3 Mod Key3 Specifications COG: Length: 20cm Weight: 14g Style: Single Sided - Non Retractable Writing-Mechanism: N/A Ink-Type: N/A Estimated-Cost:~$10 =========================== =========================== Materials List: 1 x Plastic Tipped G3 - Tip & Body 1 x Signo DX - Grip $ Tip 1 x Hyperjell - Grip & Cap 1 x Tapliclip - Grip 2 x Hybrid Gel Grips - Tips =========================== Here is an original tutorial from a blog: http://annkou2.blog105.fc2.com/blog-entry-177.html =========================== Tutorial: ===========================
Gather your Materials: Take it all apart and keep the following: Hyperjell Cap, G3 Body, Plastic G3 Tip, Signo DX grip, Hyperjell Grip, Signo Tip, Hgg Tip, Hgg Tip Remove the G3 grip, Slice down with a blade, and poke out backplug with BBQ skewer. File down the nubs on the front of the G3. Cut 1cm of the Tapliclip grip and place it on the G3 Body. Take the Plastic G3 tip, a hgg tip and a signo tip. Put the Signo Tip over the G3 Tip, then reverse the hgg tip and put it in the G3 tip. (Signo -> G3 -> HGG (reversed)) - You can place a section of the G3 Grip over the signo tip -> g3 tip gap to hold it together.

Pop that into the front of the G3 Body. Place your Signo DX grip over all those tips and onto the front of the body. (this will also secure the tips) Cut the clip of your Hyperjell Cap. Sand it down so it's smooth. Place the other Hgg Tip into the Hyperjell Grip. Cut off a small section (~0.4cm) of the tapliclip off. Place this into the Hyperjell Cap. Add some Tape around the end of the G3 Body so that the hyperjell cap stays on securely. Use the right amount to keep it on whilst avoiding cap cloud. Add an insert of your choice and spin! :D
=========================== Q/A: Q: Don't you put the tapliclip grip in the cap, and cut off a section of hyperjell for the front? A: No, the blog states the tapliclip grip is on the front :) Q: How can I cut my cap clip? A: You could use some sort of hacksaw, then an x-acto to clear the leftovers, then sand it, or wire cutters work. Q: Where can I get that insert? A: =========================== I really like this mod, it has a great weight/length and a lot of customizability! Thanks

-
Date: Fri, Jun 25 2010 14:43:14
Another well written tutorial, plus with high quality pics. Seriously, I was expecting those kind of pics. :D +1 from me. EDIT: plus you provided the Japanese Version of the insert I was looking for at v3! I wish I could give another +1.

This is wrong, the tapliclip is is the front, I guarantee it.
-
Date: Sat, Jun 26 2010 19:00:10
No, really. Ill prove it: Check ponkotus blog; http://annkou2.blog105.fc2.com/blog-entry-177.html Steps 1 -> 7 are all to do with the front of the G3. All the pictures are of the front in those steps. Step 5 (so this is to do with the front) clearly says 'HYPERJELL' and '1cm' in english. Therefore he is saying to cut 1cm of the hyperjell grip off and put it on the front. This is obvious. Step 8 is to do with the backcap, as you can see from the picture. It again, clearly states 'tapliclip'. When it says HYPERJELL it is talking about the type of cap. Sorry nation but really, tapliclip grip goes in the back lol
-

Hyperjell doesn't have dimples. Tapliclip goes in the front, I'm 100% sure
-
Date: Sat, Jun 26 2010 19:37:30
Where is anything mentioned about dimples? Neither have dimples.
-
Date: Sat, Jun 26 2010 23:02:37
On this picture: you can clearly see dimples/indents in the black grip, which only the tapliclip, not the Hyper Jell.
-
Date: Sat, Jun 26 2010 23:04:50
oh... shh yeh lol sorry then. i was so sure that tapliclip was in the back! oh well ill admit when im wrong, ill amend the tutorial sorry nation and everyone else who thought so. god i feel so stupid now haha

On this picture from ponkutu's blog, we can see that the grip on the cap is also a tapliclip one, there is a dimple... http://blog-imgs-12.fc2.com/a/n/n/annkou2/DSCN1544.jpg This is confusing -

ok, so i read through ponkotu's tutorial, it says put the tapliclip in the hyperjell cap BUT i honestly dont think it matters, infact, you can get rid of the tapliclip altogether (unless you really want to make it authentic) and use the hyperjell grip at the back

It does say that, but using common sense, we see that key3's has a blue grip and a blue cap, and then a black front grip, as well as the hgg tip doesn't fit inside the the tapli, so it's most likely just ponkotu writing it down wrong. -

what grip is in cap?
-
Date: Tue, Nov 30 2010 13:45:21
tali clip
-
Date: Tue, Nov 30 2010 14:15:45
and on front hj? because when i cut 1 sm from tapli there is left 2.5 but 1 sm in front it isnt enough to hide signo tip under signo grip, so need to use hj, but where?
-
Date: Tue, Nov 30 2010 16:08:44
HJ Cap > HGG Tip > TapliClip Grip > G3 Body > HJ Grip > Signo DX Grip > HGG Tip in reverse position > Plastic G3 Tip > Signo Tip PrinceXD~

U need sub for signo dx?! Wow thts a fail... I would say the closest is signo broad... But yeah... It will affect the spinning quite a lot... PrinceXD

is the tip of the tapliclip removalable?

@linli07 yes, its twisted out and the grip then just slides out EASILY. PrinceXD
-

can a uni ball signo dx tip be a sub for g3 tip?
-
Date: Fri, Apr 29 2011 22:46:52
@linli07 - No. This g3 tip is PLASTIC, so using a signo dx won't work at all. Read the post carefully next time :P
-
Date: Sat, Apr 30 2011 01:24:47
but i thought g3 body doesnt have a plastic tip dont they have metal tip?
-
Date: Sat, Apr 30 2011 01:29:53
@linli07 there are 2 types of G3's. Ones with plastic tips and ones with metal tips.
-

can the tip of the tapliclip be a sub for plastic g3 tip?
-
Date: Thu, Jun 9 2011 01:10:37
Every time I try to put the 3-tip pack onto the front of the G3 barrel, the G3 barrel cracks instantly. There is no way to prevent it from happening. I organize the tips exactly same as in tutorial but it just does not work right. And also, how to take the G3 grip off? I know you just can cut around it, but how to get a full ring of it? One more question, won't it be extremely hard to pull the signo DX grip on if you have the G3 grip ring thing on there? >_<
-
Date: Thu, Jun 9 2011 01:23:41
The 3 tip pack should not be pushed extremely hard, it should just lie there, the G3 tip is not supposed to screw back onto the body, the HGG tip is too fat for that. Also, you probably need to cut more than 1cm of tapliclip for the front. Meh, the get the G3 grip i usually either boil it in hot water, or just cut the rings off, then pull off the other section. You are supposed to sand down the G3 grip rings and the 8 squares.
-
Date: Thu, Jun 9 2011 01:40:27
OK, but assume that we let the tips lie on there, once we drop the mod and if the mod lands on the tips, the tips will again be pushed to the barrel and the barrel will crack. And if we have G3 grips on, it would be almost impossible to put the DX grip on, because it is so tight. Any way to solve it?
-
Date: Thu, Jun 9 2011 03:42:21
@L-in you remove the g3 grip, and sand the front part so the whole thing is smooth (including the front bump that sits under the tip) the most useful part of g3 grip are the rings, just cut it on the barrel then stretch it off then kill the rest of the grip with a vertical cut =] as for the tipping, if u're really worried about it, just reverse the g3 plastic tip with hgg tip.. Signo>HGG>G3 Plastic should be equally same length.. iirc PrinceXD

@FrogPrinceXD is there a sub for plastic g3 tips????
-
Date: Fri, Oct 7 2011 13:48:20
@aaron12345 Pilot Super Grip should do, or just any similar sized plastic tip.. since its hidden under the grip it doesnt really matter much. Frog~

How is the momentum like?
-
Date: Sun, Oct 16 2011 12:38:30
momentum shouldn't be that good. Its a 14g G3 mod ya know
-
Date: Sun, Oct 16 2011 14:12:19
Its decent.. slightly lighter than Coulomb G3 and much more balanced compared to Seven G3. ^above based on personal opinion after testing all 3 mods. Frog~

I dont like key3 mod. Its too short. Seven g3>Columb g3>Key 3 @FrogPrinceXD I think you got it mixed up. Columb is the unbalanced one and the seven g3 is heavier then key 3.
-
Date: Sun, Oct 16 2011 17:56:02
1) they're all balanced. what makes seven feels unbalanced is the weight distribution, and I feel its unbalanced because my first TA with seven the whole mod flew away from my hand. 2) key3 is towards the 13g of 14g, making it feels lightest out of all 3 3) coulomb is NOT unbalanced. how did you even mod yours? cuz my replica one is perfectly balanced (it even spins balanced too) Frog~

can i use RSVP CAP as SUBS??
-
Date: Sun, Oct 30 2011 17:51:58
Nick2811 wrote: can i use RSVP CAP as SUBS??
im not sure if that will fit on the g3 body, you can test to see if the cap fits onto the body if it does then you can use it as a sub, if it doesnt fit then you can get a bic body or something and thicken it with paper to connect the cap to the body or you can use other caps such as a g3 cap or the one used for seven g3's mod -
Date: Tue, Nov 29 2011 04:28:40
uhh the picture are making me dizzy......so we should put tapliclip grip at the back and put 1cm of hyper jell grip at the front + signo DX grip???
-

i bought a Zebra Antique for this mod...

@Nick2811 Please don't double post, you've done so many times now and I've told you not to do it those times too. You can use an antique hyperjell for a key3 mod, it is exactly the same as any other hyperjell but a metallic/beige colour.
-
Date: Tue, Apr 3 2012 15:32:58
@Froggy @_@ im confuse guys, so is the tutorial Prince posted correct? has he edited?..
-
Date: Tue, Apr 3 2012 18:44:17
@DoubleBlackDB he has edited it. so the tapliclip grip is in the front along with the pink signo grip. The hyperjell grip goes inside the cap.
-
Date: Wed, Apr 4 2012 02:35:05
@GeeGeeGee oh, so basically now the Blue grip = ? Pink grip = Signo DX , black grip = ?
-
Date: Wed, Apr 4 2012 03:12:26
just saying, the tutorial in ponkotu's blog says that Tapli clip goes in the HJ cap
-
Date: Wed, Apr 4 2012 04:27:11
This is the correct build: (yes i'm fully 100% aware that i used black tape. thank you for pointing it out) Signo Tip -> Plastic G3 -> HGG Tip (Facing inward towards the barrel) -> Pink Signo DX -> Black Hyper Jell Grip -> G3 Barrel -> White Tape -> Blue Tapliclip Grip -> HGG Tip -> Black Tinted Hyper Jell Cap Note 1: No bulky G3 Grip for the front Note 2: Tapliclip IN Hyper Jell Cap, Hyper Jell Grip UNDER Signo DX Grip. Note 3: The tips just sits there under the grip. Nothing holds them except the Signo DX Grip, so I suggest using a BRAND NEW one. Frog~ p.s. For those that still believes ponkotu's method is correct, keep believing that. Oh and don't forget adding those extra g3 grips under the DX grip if u want ponkotu's legit Key3.
-
Date: Wed, Apr 4 2012 20:31:51
okay, ponkotu's method IS correct if u dont look at his pictures... His written tutorial (which is in japanese) is basically what froggy said... if ppl only saw ponkotu's picture to make the mod, it'll be completely different tho clarification* his written tut = correct, picture is not
