Guests: Let's take a look at who's sending some big power players into the WT. Personally, I think someone from TWPS would be cool. They had a nice team going in WC last year (though they didn't get far). Or maybe one of the newer boards (LPSB, VNPSB, MYPSC)

  8. Frip
    Date: Mon, Dec 6 2010 05:35:47

I bet taichi would do it for lpsa.

I think it'll be great to interview someone from the underdog community and someone who is a veteran at these things.

  22. strat1227
    Date: Sat, Dec 18 2010 03:47:39

usually like 3pm eastern i think, that way it's 9pm for europe and 12pm for west coast, not unreasonable times for anyone (except asia/aussies)

  23. Mats
    Date: Sat, Dec 18 2010 03:51:54

The podcast is downloadable anyway. I don't think there should be a huge fuss about hearing it live. And it would be great to see JC on it! All UPSB mods/admin. Brilliant!

  24. Zombo
    Date: Sat, Dec 18 2010 17:12:04

12pm for west coast is a bit early I like to do it 4pm EST.

  35. JC

  36. Zombo
    Date: Thu, Jan 6 2011 16:23:33

    thats fine

  37. Zombo
    Date: Sun, Jan 9 2011 20:07:15

Rarka will be part of the podcast, so I think its gonna be 6 ppl total Rarka (PPP) Eriror (UPSB) Raiek (FPSB) @strat1227 Please prepare discussion topics. Just saying all 96 names in 8 groups of 12 will probably take 5-6 minutes at most. There will be a brief explaination of the rules, judging, etc. = 5-6 minutes. The whole podcast should be under 45 minutes. So 35 minutes for discussion and questions. So prepare enough discussion topics and allocate enough time to each topic to cover that time. Discuss about: lineups, reactions to the group compositions, etc. The discussion topics will then be passed around to the guests few days before podcast.

  38. strat1227
    Date: Sun, Jan 9 2011 20:50:45

I suggest we do a test at some point today and we can discuss the topics and stuff while we're testing it

  39. Zombo
    Date: Mon, Jan 10 2011 20:05:31

well looks like it didnt happen, so start typing it up

  40. strat1227
    Date: Mon, Jan 10 2011 20:29:57

yeah i guess everyone was busy or something, either way we definitely need to test this before the day of because i'm not sure how linux-compatible this stuff is going to be @Zombo if kam gives me access to that project i asked you about and i finish it before the podcast i could announce that, but he's signed on a few times without PMing me back so i dunno if he's even gonna respond or not Otherwise I think we should consider this order:

[*]Read/Talk about Lineups: I don't think it's necessary to read every single one aloud, they all have the link to the site, but we can at least go over them and talk about who we know/are surprised about [*]Format: If I'm not mistaken there are no "themes" in this tournament, so we can talk about whether thats an advantage/disadvantage to Peem as the current world champion, any other formatting stuff we can think of [*]Interviews: I think bringing them on one-at-a-time makes the most sense, like brink in Rarka, ask him a few questions, bring in Eriror (leaving Rarka on), ask EK a few questions but let Rarka speak too, bring on Raiek, etc [*]General Discussion: open up the floor to questions from the shoutbox for the guests, or just talk to them about random stuff in general [*]Closing remarks
    Any suggestions/opinions about the order?

  41. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 17:38:16

@Zombo please respond I'd like to do a test today because there is no official linux ventrillo client but many that say they work for ventrillo so I need to test what works for the podcast also please give opinions on what i said above

  42. Zombo
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 17:43:35

what you said is fine, but where does the groups reveal go

  43. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 17:44:55

under format i guess, like we can read off the matchups or something

  44. Zombo
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 17:47:16

im pretty sure you should be doing them after the interviews, interviews are just like opening questions then comes the matchups then comes the meat of the podcast, which is the general discussion.

  45. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 17:55:56

hmm i was thinking it'd be better to read the matchups first so that when they came on we could ask them about their specific battles and stuff, but either way works i guess

  46. Zombo
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 17:59:11

i think the interviews should be very specific preplanned questions that I can give to the guests before hand then the GD is more like reactionary and improvised.

  47. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 18:45:42

ok one of the questions i want to ask (if we're bringing them on before announcing matchups) is "Who are two or three spinners you really don't want to get matched against first round, who do you think would be your toughest challenge" another is "If you could see any spinner win it who wasn't you, who would you want to win?" another is "If you were a judge, what do you think the most important aspect of a combo should be? (eg difficulty, aesthetics, creativity, etc) "Do you like WT more than WC? (In other words do you think penspinning should be more individual, or do you like the concept of representing your board)" "About how long to you work on/film for a given combo?" Then I guess in general discussion a lot of it will be about peem, so i'd ask them how they weigh their personal lives vs their spinning lives, etc

  48. JC
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 19:17:37

I'm fine with your general format but agree with Zombo that the interviews should come first to introduce the guests, and then we can do the matchups. I also like the questions that you've come up with too. I'm free today to do a test, what time is good for you strat? --------------------------------------------------- "What do you think about Peem dropping out? Is it good that everyone has more of a fighting chance now? Or is it bad in that the winner may not be entirely satisfied being unable to take down WT09's champion?" Wow... never thought Peem would've dropped, hope he changes his mind.

i just read an article titled "Ubuntu and Ventrilo: A match made in HELL", so I decided to just resurrect my old windows partition. I'm connected now, whenever others connect we can test if we can hear each other well

  51. Zombo
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 20:13:30

I've heard of alternatives like Mangler...

  52. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 20:25:01

yeah they exist but apparently hardware compatibility and other shit is tough on there and i don't feel like dealing with it just for one podcast

  53. strat1227
    Date: Tue, Jan 11 2011 20:49:45

JC and I tested, set up our mic levels and stuff so we're good to go.
