What would be the best headset for PC gaming under 100 dollars? I'm looking at Turtle Beachs but didn't know if there was anything better. Any help?

Right now I use Steel Series 5Hv2's http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-5hv2 They're not that comfortable initially. However after the small break in period, you'll realize these are built for LONG ASS usage. The longer you wear them the more you forget you're wearing them. They're very light, which is very nice, and the sound quality is top notch gaming wise. The microphone is main reason I got these. Retractable and fully bendable....epic. They also break apart into 3-sections for storage/travel which is really nice. I got a deal and snagged my pair for $49.99 on a newegg special. Not sure if you'll be able to find them any lower than $80.00 currently. Word of advice, get the USB sound card with it ($40). It significantly boosts the sound quality.

Again, the Steelseries 5Hv2. They're cloth padded vs. faux leather. It's very comfortable with glasses. -

can someone give me input on these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxVtw2ytiIA&feature=related vs astros? i see alot of starcraft players wear the siberia one and it looks really cool imo :D but at the same time, i want to make sure im getting good quality. the thing im confused about is the whole 'mixamp' thing with astros. what are they exactly, and do they make that big of a difference?

Astros = Over-priced headset. They're pretty much flash factor vs anything else. They sound good, but it's not worth the $250.00. Not to mention the technology is a few years old now too. Siberia = More fair priced headset, you'll have to grab a USB sound to get the virtual 7.1, but either way it's a far better value. Sounds just as good honestly. Btw. Mixamp = allows you to control the balance of how much game audio vs. team-speak you here. -

thanks for that imatt. btw when you say "you'll have to grab a usb to get the virtual 7.1", do you mean its sold seperately? and is that just for pc, meaning i need a mixamp for console?

A good PC gaming headset is almost a must if you want to have the best gaming experience. In order to play the game in a most enjoyable manner you need to have a good gaming headset. Make sure that your gaming headset has the ability to produce great sound quality. Also a headset must be comfortable for you.
