Him and guitar have pretty much replaced pen spinning for me, but I was wondering who else has heard of him?

Slash is probably my least favorite guitarist among these mentioned. Next goes Vai. I never really udnerstood the hype on slash. as for buckethead, I love sail on soothsayer and Nottingham lace. Ballad of buckethead is weird though.

vai and satriani are the ones that have bad sounds too new wave and artsy for me, technical skill is unmatched though.

Pretty much everyone has heard of Buckethead. lol I used to listen to him nonstop till i found other instrumentalists. I found that many of his better songs are on the "In Search of the..." volume albums, but not alot of people know about those or listen to them (since some the songs on them are around 10-20 min, ones even 45 min). His slower ballady songs is what keeps me listening.

Used to listen to him a lot in the day great music to chill to, stuff like Padmasana, Soothsayer, Sail On Soothsayer.... Vai is technically great, but I don't really get into him, same with Satriani Tosin Abasi is where I go these days for the instrumental stuff, the guy is insane Also Scale The Summit, but they're more band-like, rather then solo-like There's also Guthrie Govan of course, but he's more Jazz and fusion, so that's a different story.. EDIT: oh, and Slash is a nice guitarist, but not that amazing. some memorable stuff with GnR, but nothing really spectacular if you ask me...

Buckethead -COLMA album. Listen to it. Asides from the typicals. Check out candy rat records, they pretty own the most awesome instrumental musicians. Steffen Schackinger is another of my favs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GJs6Cj7X2I On a different realm, check out Chronicles of Israfel (guitarist project of Pulse Ultra from back in the day)

Candy Rat records have some awesome fellas, but most of their great musicians are more into the acoustic stuff as far as I've seen... not that it's bad~ I really dig Antoine Dufour~
