Are we doing it this year? Because if we are, we should probably start soon. Especially with Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales coming up.
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 03:19:52
Let's do this. Trade worth $15 excl. shipping sound good?
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 03:23:23
Imma buy fleshlights for all! jk jk. only myself... How exactly does this work again? I think we need a NEW set of refreshers.
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 03:32:29
We are doing it but it is not starting yet. there is going to be a smaller window this year so it won't lag on like last year
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 10:10:20
i still didnt get mine from last year. fail
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 10:55:28
Yeah, if I recall correctly, SJ isn't the only one
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 14:31:59
If ever I'm in, most prolly I'll send late on this
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 15:12:30
there has to be a restriction on who can join

I agree. IIRC last year quite a few people didnt receive including myself. I suggest they must have maybe +10 feedback and be fairly active, cause last year some people just joined Secret santa who hadnt been on for ages :/ -
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 17:02:16
i dunno about the required +10 feedback. I don't have any feedback just because i don't care about pen mods so I don't trade, that doesn't mean i cant be trusted in a secret santa lol, I think that might apply to some others Either way, there's going to be an official one a little later, look for it in upcoming weeks
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 17:47:52
I understand strat, but there needs to be some criteria to make sure people are trustworthy... perhaps their activity could be a factor, as someone who uses UPSB alot will definitely NOT want to be banned.. im not sure, any suggestions?
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 20:10:57
Well I think it's just a simple general rule of who can we trust? I assume I would be one being super active and having +1 (when it should be +4 =.=') Feedback :3
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 20:31:09
Personally Twine I would rate you as trustworthy, but I guess someone more important should decide who is trustworthy?
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 20:44:18
It's going to be run by the administration, so mods and admin will decide who's trustworthy, there doesn't need to be a set rule like feedback or join date
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 21:22:51
okay well I do trust administration to pick correctly so this sounds a good method
-
Date: Wed, Nov 10 2010 22:31:04
I'll probably join next year if that's the case, since I don't trade enough or maybe I'm just too new. Well I'll apply anyway.
-
Date: Tue, Nov 16 2010 19:45:43
so what? will we make it this year?
-
Date: Thu, Nov 18 2010 02:51:59
Yes Yurchik. We're doing it this year. And how about just acting like this is another trade? If no resolution occurs due to not getting stuff just sort it out with a mod?
-
Date: Thu, Nov 18 2010 03:14:18
so i just want to know now before my heartz get broken. am i trustworthy enough to do this?
-
Date: Thu, Nov 18 2010 03:36:46
lol this will be fun but yeah I dont trade a lot, because its just kinda annoying and i usually get the stuffs that i want (excluding emboss T_T) hope i could join this =D PrinceXD~
-
Date: Thu, Nov 18 2010 05:18:39

-
Date: Thu, Nov 18 2010 05:44:10

-
Date: Mon, Dec 20 2010 00:46:11
wow, good job mods!
-
Date: Mon, Dec 20 2010 04:01:57
tbh i was against doing it due to the so many problems we got last year, but some other mods said they received requests for it. in the end, the mods who suggested it got busy or something and nothing was done
-
Date: Mon, Dec 20 2010 04:08:42
Mods fail.

It's not like we can't still organize one right now, in fact it might be even better if we aim for a month or two after Christmas, since then the delivery and shipping companies will have less of a load and it might go a bit quicker =\ I saw a Secret Santa being organized on another forum, and it was started in mid-October, so you realize how much planning and work goes into something like this. If you guys are still wanting to do something like this, we could start to go about organizing and start setting deadlines and rules. It doesn't exactly NEED to be a Secret Santa themed thing, just a cool exchange of gifts among members. I'm just spitballing timelines right now, but it would go something like this: - 1-2 weeks to sign up - 1 week to get confirmation from all members that signed up and get their addresses PM'd to a mod/person in charge and distribute the names randomly at the end of the week - ~3 weeks to shop/mod/whatever and send your crap by a specific date As for the rules and other official stuff: - I don't know about the whole feedback system thing, but it could by making a list of participants that would be updated in the OP, and members could confirm or deny the trustworthiness (I'm still not sure about this, because we might get people talking trash about random members). - Set a dollar amount for budget. You can go over if you want, it's your money. - Doesn't need to be pens, I'm sure some people would be pretty happy about getting whatever knick-knacks from friends and members. - Specify whether you're willing to ship internationally or not, since some people might not be into shipping overseas, what with costs and everything. - Add other rules as you see fit. The format of sign-up that I saw on the other forum was roughly like this, and with an internationally-broad forum like this, I can see it working out: - User name - Country - Likes and dislikes for pens and whatever else. What kind of stuff you have too much of, what kind of stuff you like. - Willingness to ship internationally or not Example: - TurbulentTurtle - Canada - I have lots of HB pencils. I love BiCs and HGGs. Please don't send me pencils. My favourite mods are ________. - I am willing to ship internationally. Again, just brainstorming ideas here.

you dont need to post your wants in the sign-up normally you have a anonymous Santa account set up, and its the job of the sender to "taunt" its target anonymously, probing what the target wants. its much more fun that way

I didn't intend for it to be a wish list, more as a guideline for your secret Santa. You probably shouldn't post something like, "I want Zebra F-3000s". More something alone the lines of "I like double-capped mods, heavier and longer pens" so it gives your secret Santa a bit of knowledge about what your Tiny Tim might like, so they can enjoy what they get without knowing exactly what it might be. For the Anonymous Santa account thing, are you saying that all participants will make an entirely new account just to message their Tiny Tims with? I guess I just thought that the fun is not knowing what you're going to get, rather than some random poking you and you telling them exactly what you want.

there's a shared account used by every participant santa not supposed to tell exactly what s/he's sending, but will ask questions anonymously and usually drop off hints

I'm down.
