you can see the full size pic if you right click > view image. i would like it if the directory thing could be UNDER the shoutbox instead of ON TOP of it. makes it easier to acces (this is what i mean by directory thing: "Forum > Board Related > Board Comments > Board Requests/Recommendations")

just use the "home" button on ur keyboard. or just scroll up if you have the hyperscroll thingy. 90x90 is same size as IPB and standard in other forums as well. it should be there to make it easier to remember who you are, not take unnecessary space and increase loading time.

You know how you can go to the last unread post while looking at subsections from the main page? It would be nice if you could do that while in the actual sub section itself like on v3. Maybe I am missing it but i cant find a way to do this. EDIT

If you click the tab that youre currently on it refreshes the content in that tab. -

In the top menu, the search box overlap the Gameroom button (and possibly other buttons) if the browser window size isn't big enough. Maybe no one noticed before, so I just wanted to point it out.

There are 2 things I wanted to tell. I first of all I use the firefox and as far as I have used the new UPSB it always finished loading the site (not like it was in v3). The other things is that I tend to use small letters in my browser (CTRL and scroll), and I have noticed that if you go down a lot in the size, then adnvaced search and search by tags almost disappear from the screen.

on the old board, you could click on the post someone has made in that thread, and it takes you to the last post you viewed in that thread. this board onlly does that when you click on the thread name from the main page. yes, there is a button that takes you to the very last post, but i liked how the old board had it. any way to fix this/add a button/anything?

when you press new posts under the upsb logo and then you click a thread, it wont show up on new posts if you refresh the page unless someone else replies. It makes it easier to just leave it there instead of taking it off the new post list. Like on v3 when you clicked a thread, it stayed there. I just find it easier :dunno: not sure what other people think cause i usually only go to certain popular threads. ex. SOYP

Like if im talking to someone about a trade and we are negotiating or talking about something in the trade, i have to keep refreshing the page to see if i got a PM, so could you make it so it pops up on your screen without you having to refresh the page until you get a pm?

I've noticed some problem with PM. There is an icon legend that says if the message is read or not. But in fact it is not working. When you send message to somebody it is rapidly marked as already read. If it is not big problem, can it be fixed? On UPSB v.3 at the bottom of site (now in this place there is an option to choose forum style), there was additional search bar icon. It was good and useful option, because I could search for stuff in very exactly topic I wanted. It will be cool to see this option again.

if you send a message to somebody, the message you just sent is marked as read, i dont see how that's a problem :dunno: to search inside a thread look for "Search Thread" at the top (CTRL+F)

Hmm... Maybe I didn't write it correctly. I mean that you can't check, if the person you send message to, read it. I know that it is not big problem, but sometimes you just want to make sure if somebody read your PM. Maybe I just misunderstood meaning of the message icon legend. For example in PPP you can check if somebody read your message or not - that's why I thought that something is not working correct here... About my second question, thanks for advice. I didn't notice "Search Thread" option. That's what I was looking for. -

I know that you just upgraded the board and you use the @username feature and they get a notification, but people tend to quote somebody in a thread and reply more than they say @username, so could you make it the same if somebody quotes you?

could we have a two-level pen mod check? so tut doesnt get released to public until a mod does a quick check for its: ease of parts access (nothing random) quality and then do the approved tutorials review later. there's been lots of not-so-amazing quality mods popping up recently and it clutters the pen mod section. if that can't be done, create a pop-up alerts that remind the maker for quality, randomness, tut. asked by other people, etc

Ok, so i have observed that when new people join upsb and introduce themselves. People (including me) usually say stuff like hey :welcome: to upsb. Even when say that we don't actually take the time to introduce ourselves to them or read their posts properly. The person who is introducing himself usually feels awkward after joining a forum. If we actually take the time to write a few sentences more , and like maybe introduce ourselves, many beginners will stay on upsb. Lots of beginners leave upsb cause they feel awkward and their introduction makes them feel even more awkward. If you like make a announcement about this, I am sure there will be a change =)

There are like 15 intro threads a day and like 90% of them never log in again so it's a waste of effort C. I don't think people saying their hobbies and stuff like that will make anyone more likely to stay on the board, the reason for staying/leaving has nothing to do with that

@Zombo is it possible to have an unread posts symbol for the main subforum only? for example, in general discussion if someone makes a post in philosophy, both the "general discussion" and "philosophy" symbols change, so I don't know if someone posted in both or just general discussion it seems small but there are several instances where it's really annoying to have to check (IE when an infraction is filed, if I knew it were only an infraction I'd just click reports "mark as read", but as of now I have to check the main subforum too to make sure there's no real posts) edit: the main one could still light up too, but maybe add a new speech bubble at the bottom for "Main directory" or whatever

if you click on the subforum's bubble icon to mark as read, it will mark everything in that subforum. if the main forum's unread icon still stays light afterwards, it means there are new topics in the main subforum. if it becomes read, it means the unread were only in the subforum.

Colin, I already explained to you why I warn you; you shouldn't see it as a punishment, just a reminder of the rules so the problem doesn't become something bigger than it is. ~~~ Also I've started making it a habit to check the archives during the night, (and whenever possible during the day), if someone is breaking rules and i'm not around, I'll probably catch it later. And as strat said we have a system in place that allows you to help report people breaking the rules, use it. -

Hippo there are only so many shades that work on all 3 of the skins, that's what we've been saying go to an html colors chart and post colors specifically, instead of just using words, that way we can test them

It would be nice if there was an option to make shoutbox a little larger. At the moment, it displays ~5 messages at once. Could it be made so you can stretch it to show perhaps 8 or 9?

Under the notifications tab it should show you that someone posted after you in a thread. I don't think it should have multiple notifications if multiple people posted, just one. Once you visit that thread again it should refresh. I often find myself forgetting the threads I've posted in and end up missing someones reply.

@Zombo I have an idea. I might even do it myself. So, since UPSB is a forum and it has rules and such all text (obviously), so why not make a video that orients each new member to the forum. For example, some people don't know how to post a poll or a link because they weren't on any forums before. I think there should be a video that shows how to make forum posts and if not have a thread that shows how to post things using the forum.

My first complaint is that someone needs to fix the tags when it comes to searching something because when I search something, what I'm looking for doesn't always come up, and at times I can miss it completely. I searched thumbaround and I got this as results
Why isn't the thread for thumbaround the first one to come up? And i can understand haitua being on there I guess since it does use a thumbaround, but I don't see why palmspin is there when it's not even a fundamental, and if like I said I understand why haitua comes up, but if I was a new spinner without prior knowledge I would assume haitua would be a fundamental trick. And I don't think anything in the off-topic or forum games should come up in the search results. My second complaint is the forum organization, for example I don't see why we have a spammer's bin, shoutbox/chatroom, forum games, and arcade section, but if they're going to be there then they should be sub-forums on the off-topic section, and I think that collaboration organization/sign-ups should be a sub-forum of collaboration videos (I think that regular pen discussion should be a sub-forum of pen modifications, but that's just me. I also think that twisted sonic/wraped sonic + variations should be part of the fundamental tricks section since they are hybrids consisting of fundamentals and it makes it easier for new spinners to find more fundamentals without having to go through pages of advanced tricks. And My third complaint is that even though I plan on fixing it myself the wiki is severely out-dated and could use more video tutorials. And can someone please edit all of my grammar errors?Spoiler

I think you could do it. Just make a thread related to... maybe "advanced linkages" and just have people post in there instead of members just creating a new thread for any linkage they have. After reporting quite a bit of threads/posts, either using the report button or directly seeking a moderator Heres are few suggestions I would like it to be implemented: [B]1) Have a clear set of rules/guidelines for Trading, specifically noting the following:[/B] - No more than 1 thread per member. But even when people follow the format, their tutorials are mostly not approved. How about disabling user customizations (setting the profile colors) and put the default profile colors in each theme? You could use the current ones for the dark theme and use a way darker font for the standard theme and sage. I don't see anything speaking against that (disabling should be no problem and changing a few colors in the theme also shouldn't be), considering almost every time somebody sets own colors, it looks atrocious (notable exceptions would be my current style to make the standard theme more readable and stachuk's suggestions in general in a thread in this section). In case you're wondering why I don't just check the box that disables user customizations in general settings: It doesn't seem to work at all. At least not with the dark theme and that renders it useless to me.

See, if I figured it out correctly, css.php is dynamically created based on what the user set up in his customization settings. So how about you let it read in two default skins, one for dark fonts and one for light fonts and output the dark fonts if the user theme is default/sage and the light fonts if the user theme is dark. Or for advanced users: Substitute the colors needed by using variables and in-file constants, after all PHP is a templating language and tailored to that. You can code, right? I mean, I could pull that off for you if you can't. It's just that I'd need something more than my mere assumptions to help fix things. edit: Ok, Zombo, I've just created an userscript for demonstration: Dropbox. Currently it overrides settings for the default and dark theme in a quite messy, but working way. I've tested it in Chrome so far.

feel free to user any user-side scripts you want, that's not a problem what im saying is that the default css's are messed up, they're all stored in database and contain a mix of default css from multiple skins. vb is stupid and didn't import each skin cleanly, it mixed up all the stuff together.

I understand that but if something was mentioned a few hours back then the archive is a good thing to have. At that point there is a good chance the archive will still have it. Maybe if the shoutbox was pruned once a day it could help people better than random pruning. -

What about the Radio/games one. You could create a shout box section which comes in from a drop down box from the Radio Tab at the very top. It will be a bit like the Chat drop down box. -

That doesn't work, everyone would have to download skype, and we would have to pay for skype premium. That's definitely crossed off. It should be something that can be done in the browser. -

I demand that there should be some kind of warning before the Pruning of the shoutbox. I was having an important conversation (VERY IMPORTANT) and the shoutbox was pruned without warning and all info was lost. I suggest there be some kind of 3 minute count down that appears on the sticky till when the prune will occur to prevent sudden loss of info or anything else important.

Most of the prunes are when the shoutbox is inactive. There was no activity for a while. Making it in the sticky or shout about it, gives a high change that the shoutbox gets active again. -

But since people know that the shoutbox is getting pruned I don't see why they would enter the shout box to make it active. Just as long as there is some kind of warning that the shoutbox is getting pruned. -

This may not really be a Board Suggestion, and I don't know if it has been suggested before or if anything similar has been done before, but I don't see anywhere else to post this. Anyways, I'd like to see a project done by UPSB(with the help of spinners from other boards) where penspinning greats are interviewed. I mean, people who've had a big impact on penspinning and have made penspinning what is today. I'm mainly talking about old legends that newer spinners don't know much about. People like David Weis, Kam, KTH, Hideaki, Eriror etc. I understand it might be hard to contact some of them but it shouldn't be impossible. With the help of UPSB oldies and other boards, a good number of the "legends" can be interviewed.

Trading tags or a system of trading like ebay or amazon. Im tired of looking through pages of trade threads to find someone who is trading for a pen im looking for. For people who are just selling for money, set up something like ebay where we can search for pen and have them expire after a month or so so we dont have to deal with really old trade threads. For traders we can have a search system with a "Trade _______ for _______." function, filling in only one of the blancks, so people can search for either pens are available for trade or search for what pens they can get for what they have. I think this will make it a lot easier for people to find trades and eliminate the problem of reading through a trade thread to find out they dont have the right pens to trade over.

Regarding the double post rule. To me the point of posting in a thread is so that someone can read it and perhaps respond to it as well. Sometimes I would have something to post in a thread but then I see that the last post was made by me, and the thread is like in the 2nd or 3rd page, and the rule is to not double post and just edit your post. If I do this, then the thread won't get bumped and probably no one would see my post. So what I'm trying to get across is to allow double posting if the last post has been quite a while ago (2 weeks + maybe?) or if the thread is on the 2nd + page, this is to allow other users a chance to see the new post and perhaps respond to it. Also taking into consideration that the double post actually has something to contribute other than just spam.

Whenever i try to search for members on the board i always use the search bar on the top right.but thats for the threads only,right? How bout allowing us to be able to search members of the board using the search bar on the right too. Basically,if i were to search for a member,i would be able to see their names. Its kinda difficult to explain,basically,its like youtube,where you can see the youtubers and probably some related threads.

Would UPSB consider making an official Zazzle store for UPSB theme apparel. It would help because there are no starting charges iirc when someone buys something and you don't have to produce the items first, when someone buys it they just print it, ship it and pay you the profit. would help with raising a little money for UPSB and give us the chance to get UPSB merch at all times of the year reliably. We have a lot of people who could make the designs on the board, too.

Wow, I think UPSB will be in a civil war if we would have that. Because nobody would be agreeing about anything and arguing why they are or are not on the list. We did had back in V3 a ranking for the battlezone, that was based on ladder battles. -

what about if there was an app that was like an updated and much better version on the wiki to make it 100% easier for people learn about pen spinning and get into pen spinning. so there could be like a glossary of all of the terms and a thing with all the tricks categorized correctly and all the pen mods correctly categorized as well as videos and slow-mo's so that when connected to internet you can watch them to keep the file size down.

omg hey guys what if there was like an app with like 3d hand and pen and it made all the combos for you and taught you how to do it with a voice synthesizer so that it sound like ktrinh and like omg it should be able to update the wiki automatically with algorithm magic but I won't do it because I don't have the time it's not like I don't know programming or just how hard it is to code that stuff lel :) @anamta Nobody needs an ideas guy, stop being so stupid.
