Use this thread to share new inserts that you've made with the rest of the board. You may also request for inserts here, as well as request for changes to be made on inserts (color changes, edits, add ons, resize, etc...) Common Insert Sizes RSVP: 8.8cm x 3.8cm (only 8.6cm x 1.9cm will show, the remaining length is to make it easier to roll into the pen) G3: 8.6cm x 2.0cm (that is approximately the dimension of the insert that will show) Modrod: 17.5cm x 3.0cm (only 17.5cm x 2.64cm will show)

(I did the top bit slightly better, but it doesnt matter anyway cause thats where you roll it up)

Nobody requested it, but I think some of my remakes of popular inserts may interest some of you. The first one I used in K7 Hybrid mod of my friend and me:
The second one is a remake of iVodka's Fury insert for yellow-pink RSVP MX. I hope he don't mind that I publicate it here:
Finally, the last one is a remake of iMatt's "Girl" (I've actually seen this name somewhere, lol). The reason I remade it was that it hasn't enough width when it's put in G3 body. So, I found the original picture with that beautiful girl and remade it. Similarly, if he mind that it's posted here, it'll be okay if he delete it:

Ask Kam to do the recoloring. There was a problem a few years back about people violating Kam's IP by editing it without Kam's permission. -

I would go for a solid color insert in the sb mx because there is already the sunburst design over the barrel. If you try to put a designed insert, not only will part of the pattern be covered, but it won't flow well with the visuals of the sunburst body.

1st: You can edit your post to correct it. This helps to avoid double-posts ;) 2nd: I'd take tape and do a tapecut on the GM-grip instead putting an insert in the cap. If you want an insert sooooo much i would make you one. But i need the size of the isnert. I don't have Minvvoo-Mod here to look it up.

I agree, resizing is easy in paint.net, just make your canvas the size you want and make the insert the size of the canvas. Recolouring simple inserts like SEVEN is even easier, just use paint bucket. -

Its when you roll up the paper, the top matches the bottom making it looks like "a round of design" ....... lol that confusing Its like.. When you roll up an insert usually u can see where the paper ends because the design "cuts off" A seamless insert makes the "cut off" part blends with the rest again.. Clearer? -.- Hahaha PrinceXD~

@sobscout Only TEK or the owner of that Areso mod has the insert, can't you see it's signed ? You can't get an insert that is 'exactly' like that. I don't think anyone has been able to find that insert, it appears to be a lolly wrapper or some paper with shiny foil/stickers. Only replicas have been made.

Ask Kam for the exact insert, because hes the only one that have it. As for clearish insert, it just depends on what you print your design on. You need to print it in those plastics (i think) thats used for projecting displays like in school. PrinceXD

A tip for recoloring inserts. Easy way to recolor is to copy the desired insert to a word document. Select the image and go to format and recolor. Then print it out. I recolored a seven mod insert to lime green in my RSVP MX

Hey all. This is the second time ive made a pen mod and the first time i made it, the insert was a slap dash effort, as in it worked but really badly so i want to do it right this time. I made the RSVP Mx and Mx^2 and i just need the inserts for the colours i had to work with. I just gives me the option to rescale by pixel and i have no clue what the ratio is. So instead of wasting ink with trail and error, can someone resize these to 9 cm width and 4 cm height so all i have to do is save and print them or can someone tell me how to do it myself? Also any tips for putting in the inserts? last time it went in but very badly, it was a black and white pattern so you couldnt tell unless you looked closely but i dont want the same thing happening. Edit : Never mind about the printing thing i solved that, now just need help with the roll.

Really? I googled "Impact MX Inserts" and LOOK, the first result happened to be the Impact MX Tutorial. I clicked on the "cached" button, for alas, the link to v3 didn't work. A quick scan through the [B]first post[/B] revealed that there was this section labled "Insert". And guess what? in that section there was this link labled View and download pre-colored PNG files (print at 150 dpi). Please, do your homework next time before you come complaining that no one's helping you.

Looks wierd because of the bulge in the centre... if there wasnt a bulge it would be very good. Maybe you can hand colour the stripes blue on the insert you are using now? -

I am just wondering if there's any other colour of it?
If no, would anyone please recolor this for me?
I want all the pink parts (including the tiniest pink dots) to become skyblue (matching the light blue signo DX grips), and all the red parts (the stars and lines) to become blue. Black and white parts can stay the same.

Won't know if those matches skyblue DX, since every printer prints differently
and my "inkjet" printer is out of cyan soon... dont wanna replace it YET =P
so just give it a test ;)

Here's an easy trick for this one: http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/jim666/Inserts/?action=view¤t=Modrodfirstinsert.png It's white right now so to get back, just invert the colors in mspaint. Copy and paste the image in paint and hit "ctrl + I". Re-coloring to blue is not as easy lol so can't really help you there right now.

@Morpheus just a random piece of advice if no one will recolor your insert, you could try hand coloring. It works best on lighter colors though. I recently made a lime green mesi insert, by coloring over the orange with a lime hgg.

first one looks great 2nd one should be black and white its better for seeing the pattern. dont forget although u can see on computer, but after printing i find mine wayy lousier quality

Hey I use RSVP MX's mainly or mods that use the body so could someone size my name "Aran" in this font ( http://www.dafont.com/cloister-black.font?text=A&fpp=20&psize=l ) so its joined with all caps and fits nicely in the barrel. If possible could you make it on a white background that is clear so it can be cut and pasted onto colours using paint without making the massive white border around it. Thanks :¬D

Don't double post. I think the colors wouldn't match up. Maybe if you adjusted the blue to match better with your signo grip and make sure the pink is bright to match the flouro pink hyper jell.

Your printer won't be able to do the colours right. Just print it in black/white and recolor it manually. Just take a pink HJ inktube and a skyblue Signo DX inktube ;) @__H2__

I'd call it impossible for neon green (and maybe neon orange), neon skyblue and neon pink aren't that hard to do. But if you haven't something like photoshop or gimp and loads of patience to try until you get the correct tone right, it would be faster to color the paper using a gel ink tube.

Well then it would be good to know which program you use. I use Paint.NET for most stuff so I can only give you an explanation for that program. Explanation for Paint.NET: 1) Open the image of the insert 2) click the 6th button from the left at the top of the window (mine is German, the translation would be something like 'corrections') 2,5) If you just want to invert the colors choose invert colors. 3) choose the option colors/saturation. 4) toogle the color bar untill you're statisfied with the outcome. 5) save the image (I save them as jpeg most of the time) If you only want to change a part of the image you need to select the part. There are some tools for this in the program.

@phinamthi If you want different colors it's not going to be easy. You need to select a certain part of the insert. I would max the contrast of the image and choose very low brightness. Then you should be able to select one color of that insert. select that and create a new layer with the original insert. Because the selection does also apply to other layers you can now recolor that part of the insert. You might have to recolor some pixels that weren't selected though. In that case it's going to be a lot of work for you. ;)

Lolol, apparently people here don't know that photoshop and gimp have the option to recolour specific colour ranges. If you create a new layer, you can use blending options for things like replacing white or black parts. Combine that with adjustment layers with masks and you should be able to recolour everything in a non-destructive and fast way. edit: I forgot about gradient maps, they're quite a nice alternative to using multiple adjustment layers with masks (or specific colour ranges). Some other people tried to use lab mode and multiple curve layers together with blending modes for even more precise colour bending (making a picture look warmer, colder, higher in contrast, ...).

No it was made by Syrti and unreleased. You can get the insert once Modrod opens up his new site as it will be sold inside Modrod mods I believe. If you really want it talk to Modrod himself about that. -

Yes but he hasn't used them as an aspect in a bigger workflow, or really done anything than take brushes and click on the canvas. To then go and present that, you will face scrutiny, and it implies no effort. -

I know It isn't anything too fancy, just wanted to keep it sweet and simple. is this thread still live? anyway, could someone make me a HGS³ and Hybrid-DC-HGG abstract-ish insert like the one iVodka made some time ago that looked like tentacles/hair with funky depth illusion? color combo depends on what looks great, purple and/or lime green as main color and blue/black/red or lime green/purple as secondary color.. (if used as main, then use the other) and also, if possible, make the colors saturate/blend/mix/transfer instead of just one flat color all the way preferably not too rough, but more smooth and delicate looking design.. oh and the color of the mods I'm making depends on you guys' inserts creation ;D sorry for my bad english! ><

Pentel RSVP Cubix is just an Regular rsvp with a classy insert. That is it. The real Cubix i don't think have text on the insert. The one of the wiki and the one Dern Goid found is probably the closest one. I will try to search around a bit more.

It's really easy to do this in paint. Just paste the image and hit CTRL + I to invert the colors if I remember correctly. -

I've seen some holographic outserts (possibly a sticker) on some pen mods and I always thought the holographic effect looks really cool. I've got a couple ideas for making mods if I can figure out where I can even get these things. I can't really seem to find any kind of holographic outsert/stickers that are large enough to cover a pen barrel. Hey everyone, I recently made a ZGMX and was wondering if anybody had any inserts to share for them? As you probably know, the barrel is super long and I I can't find any inserts. Preferably something with black in it, as I used black Z-Grips to make the mod. Thank you!
