Welcome reader. After having seen a myriad of requests from new members and existing beginners I am finally going to produce a learning order which I believe is optimum for your pen spinning career. Before I start I must stress a few things first: 1). This is the order in which I believe is the most optimum for your learning, however one must not absolutely follow this order, this is merely a recommended guide from one who has experience in this. 2). If you are to follow this order you need to be prepared to put in the effort and practise which this manipulation deserves. Trust me it is all worth it in the end. Alright, lets begin then. This order has been split up into different sections which I have split up into stages. The way in which this works is you must learn all of the tricks in each stage before progressing onto the next. I have put it like this due to the fact that some tricks are required before you are able to progress onto the next. In each stage for all tricks you must learn them in all fingerslots and all tricks in reverse as well, in each fingerslot as well. For example for the trick known as the charge you must learn it in fingerslots 12, 23 and 34 and in reverse as well. I will provide links to tutorials as well for you, however for tricks without tutorials I will provide a basic breakdown and if you need any further help with them then you can always pm me or ask on the UPSB forum. As well as the tricks in each stage I will also provide a couple of simple links at the end using the tricks learnt in the stage and also tricks learnt prior from that stage. As well as this there will be multiple stages within the stages labelled a, b, c. These sub sections can be learned in any order however all must be learnt before moving onto the next section. Alright then onto the stages
Thumbaround, Charge, Sonic, Fingerpass and figure 8 Without a shadow of a doubt the most important tricks to begin your pen spinning career are the 4 fundamentals. The 4 fundamentals are known as the Thumbaround, Charge, Sonic and Fingerpass. I have included the figure 8 because it is a very basic wiper trick and it is probably the easiest trick in pen spinning. Once again I stress that you must learn all of these tricks in all fingerslots and also in reverse. Thumbaround normal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR9rfzeoDbI This is a very basic trick which is very popular and as well as the middle finger push start you need to learn the trick using all other fingers to push. Charge Normal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQBXT-NM2P4&list=UUC4Z_1FdZ6AHXxFLH6Ikpuw&index=1 Another trick which is necessary to learn in all fingerslots. Sonic Normal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-pqoFnf2dQ&list=UUC4Z_1FdZ6AHXxFLH6Ikpuw&index=4 On this trick learn it in all fingerslots, and you must learn the trick using a charge start. Due to the fact that in combos you cannot reposition the pen onto your thumbflap to begin the trick. Fingerpass Normal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUw60ZehL-c&list=UUC4Z_1FdZ6AHXxFLH6Ikpuw&index=2 This trick is quite ambiguous as it is actually a combination of passes, but I believe that once you can do 2 complete fingerpass quite smoothly(there is no need to get it to hal speed) then it can count. Breakdown: Pass 12-23-34-23-12-23-34-23-12. Thumabround Reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P_Uu2T8SW0 The reverse of the thumbaround, with this trick there is no need to learn using all fingers for push. However at least learn using an index finger push. Charge Reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thXlAkA-9-I Reverse of the charge, make sure to learn this trick in all fingerslots as well. Sonic Reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-15L5CvhZ98 Fingerpass Reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79boZVIk3rw Like the fingerpass this is a combination of reverse passes and so I believe that 2 complete fingerpass reverses is enough for this trick. Links: As promised here as some links which use the tricks listed above. Thumbaround reverse 12-12 → Pass 12-23-34-23-12 → Pass reverse 12-23-34-23-12 → thumbaround 12-12. Sonic 34-23-12 → Sonic reverse 12-23-34. Well if you made it this far then congratulations. You have completed Stage 1.

Twisted sonic, warped sonic, extended thumbaround, demons sonic. Twisted sonic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtcQkIFdWR8 a hybrid of a charge and a pass reverse. Make sure to learn this in all fingerslots. You may find the twisted sonic 34-23 quite difficult due to flexibility issues but practise and you can do it! Warped sonic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2LCt_077MQ A hybrid of a charge and pass. Once again make sure to learn this in all fingerslots. Extended thumbaround: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj9bRNlLJdI No need to learn this trick with all finger pushes, just using middle and index push. Demons sonic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAhGYboSvEI A hybrid of the sonic and pass reverse. Twisted sonic reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HWSsESQnLE Charge reverse → pass. Make sure to learn in all fingerslots. Warped sonic reverse: No tutorial for this one, sorry. However this is the breakdown of it from fingerslot 23: Charge reverse → pass rev 23-12. Repeat this but transfer fingerslots to complete the trick in the other fingerslot. Extended thumbaround reverse and demon's sonic reverse: The reverses of these tricks are not necessary so I guess you get to pass these tricks for free. Alright, onto the links: Twisted sonic 23-12 → warped sonic 12-23 → warped sonic reverse 23-12 → twisted sonic reverse 12-23 → twisted sonic 23-12 → extended thumbaround 12-12. Demons sonic 34-12 → warped sonic 12-23 → twisted sonic 23-12 → extended thumbaround 12-12. Congratulations you have completed stage 2a.

Backaround, arounds, shadow, infinity. Fingerless thumabround, inverse sonic Backarounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxDB-9dQivk This is a very popular trick which is used a lot on all fingers, so make sure to learn them well. Arounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Cj1H8mS4Ns This trick is also importart and is like the thumbaround. Even though it is important to learn on all fingerslots, it is not very necessary to learn the trick on the pinky. Shadow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6ASf1Y_rk This is an advanced trick however it is also very important in pen spinning and is used in a lot of hybrid tricks. Make sure to learn in all fingerslots. Infinity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AKKxLT2tW0 Another wiper trick, it is not necessary to learn this trick in all fingerslots, just the infinity t1-12. Fingerless Thumbaround: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4eOUAmlR_0 A fingerless version of the thumbaround, used in a lot of power tricks and other hybrids. No need to learn this trick in all fingerslots as this trick doesn't use any fingers! Inverse sonic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4eOUAmlR_0 An inverse form of the sonic trick. This trick is a pain to learn form 34-23 because of flexibility so I will let you off just this once, however instead of just leaving this and never touching it again keep trying at times. You still have to learn the trick from 23-12 though Backaround reverse: This trick is not necessary at this stage however it will come up in the future. Around reverse: No tutorial on this trick, sorry. However it is just an around but in reverse. Once again it is not necessary to learn a pinky around reverse, and also trying to learn the ring around reverse will be extremely difficult due to flexibility. So you do not have to learn that. Shadow reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TBpOuonMps The reverse of the shadow. This trick should be easier after learning the shadow. Once again learn in all fingerslots. Infinity reverse: No need to learn this trick as I don't believe this exists. Fingerless thumbaround reverse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ0BOCC56jc The reverse of the fingerless thumbaround, once again no need to learn any fingerslots with this one as it is a fingerless trick. Inverse sonic reverse: No tutorial for this trick however it is just a reverse of the inverse sonic. Learning 23-34 is not necessary. But make sure to learn 12-23.
To be continued...

@ShadowParadox, I'm sure that this thread will be one of the most helpful thread to reference! I have an idea that you could add: You should write something about how people should feel free to comment and add tricks to this list, if they think of something you might have missed. That way, more and more people are adding to this list, and it becomes increasingly detailed and comprehensive.

I will be continuing the stages when i make them. But it is impossible for me to cover all of the tricks however i will do enough to the point where a beginner is able to carry on themselves. Feedback nonetheless is always welcome

With the idea that every penspinner learns on his own way aside. This is a decent guild for beginners to search for the next trick to learn. Could say I wished this to be there when I started!

I've been looking for something amazing like this for a while. Just saying I been spinning for 3 months almost and I never got fingerpass and fingerpass rev smoothly nor reverse charge. Are they actually essential?

to be honest i don't think fingerpass and fingerpass rev need to be mastered that smoothly. but reverse charge is important.

I am really not sure about considering passes as tricks. Correct me if I'm wrong - aren't they more of exercises rather then tricks? I can do pass reverse pretty well, but not pass normal. They look nice, but take too long to be decently mastered. UPD: That's a very nice guide. But please let me know, what's ThumbAround 12-12 from the link in Stage 1?

It is important to get ALL passes at a decent fluent state as passes are one of the main tricks used in pen spinning. If you want your combos to be extremely smooth like hal's then you need a good fluent fingerpass. However your fingerpass will develop over time so to begin with it is not as important to get it smooth as a beginner. Just make sure it is well known at passes and reverse for 23-34-23 and such

Thanks so much for this guide! I have been psing for one month and know all of the tricks in stage 1 and about half in stage 2. This gives me something to work on as i had next to no idea what to do next. :)

the charge is the most important fundamental by far really, out of all of them (and the only one I would consider a true fundamental trick xD)
