Okay, so three guys go to a restaurant, yeah? Each dude has $10 with them. They eat and stuff and it costs them $25 So all of them combine their money and they pay $30, having a refund of $5 For that $5, they give $2 as tips for the waitress. And the remaining $3 returns to each of them. This means each of them paid only $9, because each received a refund of $1 So $9 * 3 dudes = $27 plus the $2 tips = $29 Question: What happened to another $1? Because the original sum was $30 This is not a troll question. Friend asked me and I was mindfucked. True that you can build up the equation 9(3)[Money spent]=30-3=25(Price) + 2[Tips] like I did [Before = After] But if you try to solve it the way that the question wants you to, which kind of makes sense, it does not work. So. Wat.

I read this in Young Sherlock once. Forgot the solution though.

Maybe it was dissipated in form of heat But I don't think that is the answer to this question

I remember a math class where the prof told us about proofs that prove stupid things and that you just go through each line looking for a logical error. Its a pretty legit strategy.
