Hello! I'm Astdroid and I am brand new around here. Was introduced to pen spinning through reddit and thought it'd be pretty cool to do casually to keep my hands busy when I'm bored. Where should I start?

Welcome to upsb! You should start with the fundamentals, which are the Thumbaround, Fingerpass, Charge, and Sonic. You can find tutorials for all of those on youtube. I recommend using Eso's tutorials: Thumbaround: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQX5teX2RHk Fingerpass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj-tukMCS4Y Charge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJI1GbIOIvU Sonic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gRBsk8vYYw

Yup, wotu's advice seems quite sound :) Also, shoeman6's tutorials are my personal favorites. They helped me greatly when I was first introduced to pen spinning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqRff8-e3Kg&list=PLMiB0W89dgKnc2wZnlysioikVm56Tkn-K

Thank you very much! I'll hopefully be hanging around for a while. Does anyone have any suggestions for pens/pencils/mods I should start with to make the learning process easier?

You should get an comssa, metallic comssa or rsvp mx . They are good for learning the basics and they give you a feeling for the pen.

Welcome to UPSB! As wotu1 said, start of learnng the fundamentals and their reverses. Then move on to easy hybrids, then difficult ones. I recommend Ktrinh93 tutorials, as he gives very detailed tutorials and addresses problems that people have with a certain tricks and provides solutions. Many people have learned from his tutorials and he is, without a doubt, the most successful pen spinner on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/KTrinh93 I think you should get all your fundamentals down with a BICtory, then move on to an RSVP MX

Welcome to UPSB! So what to start with? I would recommend you start with inverse reverse septuple pun kan spin 20.0, very basic move really easy, you probably wont find a tut for it as it is so easy everyone assumes you know it. For beginner pens you got 2 choices really, VGG Emboss with 50 air fit tips in the body, or menowa mod with 50 dr grip tips in the body. :D Anyway have fun here be sure to read the rules and hang out in the Shoutbox. -Shadow

You can stick with just pencils and normal pens for the fundamentals with out much issues. Mods will help once you want to go onto advanced tricks, but if you want to get really good at fundies look good just using basic tricks you can delay on mods even longer. I like RSVPs for unmodded spinning and RSVP MX, Namea and Dr.KT are my favorite mods. Lots of good ones to choose from and its really up to personal preference.

Welcome to UPSB! I would just stick to a pencil or a normal bic for the fundamentals and such. Hold off buying mods for a while, they're unnecessary, and learning the fundamentals with a lighter pen will help you later on in your career. Another great youtuber for tutorials is Supervvalrus. https://www.youtube.com/user/SuperVValrus/videos And remember the key to Penspinning is Practise!
