Fundamental Tricks / Sonic Reverse

Sonic Reverse This trick is similar to the Sonic Normal trick in that it moves the pen from one finger slot to another, but Sonic Normal moves the pen up the hand. While doing Sonic Reverse, the pen will be moving down the hand. It will move the exact opposite from Sonic Normal, and will need to be done the exact opposite as well. While Sonic Normal uses a Charge-like motion to move the pen upwards in addition to bending the middle finger downwards, Sonic Reverse uses a Charge Reverse-like motion to move the pen downwards in addition to bending the middle finger downwards. Unlike Sonic Normal though, using the thumbflap to build pressure to launch the pen does not work in this case. The thumbflap may NOT be used to perform Sonic Reverse. i can do it by 12-23, but its hard on 23-34 because the pinky is quite short =/

Keep doing charge reverse and try to move your middle finger forward. You ring finger should move up and catch the pen.

This is gonna take me a while to learn, but it'll pay off. First attempt = Flicked it out of my hands some how, it bounced off the wall and hit me in the face. This then caused me to fall of my chair and hit my head off my wall. Not looking or feeling good at the moment. Fuuuu-

I would recommend learning sonic clip and charge rev first. If you can do those well, sonic rev should be pretty easy

if you already know the sonic normal then this should be pretty easy, just keep practising the reverse motion

Pen spinning is all about control and smoothness. If you're pen is flying into your monitor you are using too much force, be gentle with it, just let it fall down a slot.

can't get the right amount of force into it, and i can't get it to go down i end up making a rev charge

Try bringing your middlefinger closer to your indexfinger while doing your rev charge =D This trick doesn't need any force ;)

Try this: after doing sonic rev 12-23 pull your ring finger in Towards your palm. This way you are trying to do a sonic fall (I guess that's what it is called). So basically as the sonic rev 12-23 is finishing, pull ring finger forward to force it to spin into the 34 slot. I think it helps if you do it palm sideways as well. I hope that helps. -_-

i suggest you bend your ring finger down toward your palm whilst bring your pinky and middle finger together and as soon as the pen makes contact with the pinky, bring your ring finger back up so that it slides on top of the pen. hope i helped

i can do it 12-23 but learning 23-34. well i learned the motion of charge reverse on 1-2 and i tried to do sonic reverse without resting it on the palm. once i can switch it to 23 but not getting the circular motion i tried resting it on the palm and i can do it now. also i tried charge reverse on 12 and yes i can. now learning TA reverse which is harder IMO

For more circular motion, i suggest to you to make a Sonic Fall, when you continue the Sonic Rev 12-23, then you must do the 23-34 fast, traning this trick will better your motion. Other thing you could do, is to training the Charge Rev on 23, cause is the key in the Sonic Rev 23-34.

  26. Gash

@Xmanmat2 It's nice to be able to know reverses, it's like saying what's the point of learning Thumbaround Reverse, if you know Thumbaround. If you only know "normal" of every trick, your combo will only be going in 1 direction, the reverse of the trick let's you change directions and be more creative :)

Maybe you guys should try to jerk your hand back just a little first.... Than you will get the momentum.... And sooner or later you will get the trick without jerking your hand back.... That's how I learnt sonic rev. :)

I'm not sure what you mean, but this is how I learnt it. I kept using my left hand to guide the mod to do the sonic reverse. This sort of helped me learn the movement of the pen and fingers.

For me, I learnt sonic reverse by basically performing the sonic fall(is there such a thing) except with my other hab guiding and directing it so after a while I got the hand movement. The important thing is the hand movement.

@Apocalyptic Shadows.wads sonic fall?i dun think theres such a move. To all having trouble:learning reverse charge first would help you learn the reverse sonic faster.oh...and take a video of a sonic and rewind it if you dunno how it moves

Lol long quote. If there is such a thing, it would mean sonic reverse starting at 12 down to 23 and to 34

lol...i'd rather call it reverse rise.

  36. Giotto

i don't know if it would help you or not.i found out that do sonic reverse after normal sonic is much easier to perform sonic reverse.you could do that first and do sonic reverse individually after you get familiar with sonic reverse motion.

Sonic fall does exist, but I believe it's what used to be called moonwalk sonic fall Now it's just notated as sonic 12-23>sonic 23-34 Sonic rev fall would be sonic rev 12-23>sonic 23-34 @Leonardlnx do you kno how to do sonic rev 12-23? If so, strengthen ur pinky more and it should be the same idea And the correct notation is sonic reverse 23-34

when performing a sonic reverse 23-34 I nearly always end up catching the pen off-centre in the 34 slot, so that the majority of the pen is on the palm-side of my hand. This is especially a problem when I try it palm-down. I'm trying to work towards being able to do a sonic rise/fall harmonic, and I can do all other components to this trick fine (sonic rise, sonic reverse 12-23), but catching the pen like this makes it impossible to follow on with a regular sonic 34-23... any tips?? :s

You could start by trying to learn sonic rev clip 23-24 > charge rev 24. Basically you stop the sonic rev half way and then try to do charge rev. Get used to holding the pen in the "clipped" slot (24) and doing charges there. Its a harder trick but by trying this harder trick it should make sonic rev 23-34 seem easy. Other than that keep practicing and you'll get it :)

Oh god the feeling of holding the pen like that makes my fingers want to throw up lol. Thanks though, it seems like trying that will encourage my ring finger to start bending down properly which I suspect may be part of the problem.

Yes, you can move your index finger back and also you can get pressure by pressing it against the left side of your palm when it's facing up, this is away you can learn it pressured, to learn unpressured you would just move your index finger, but I would recommend learning it pressured first. Hope this helps. :)
