During these past few months the cry of some of the beginners wanting a Beginner's tournament was heard but not heeded. But now i present to you the kindling of the fire. Welcome to the [B]2014 Beginner's Tournament[/B] I am your host Zen. Sign up here if you want to join the tournament. [B]You must be below 1.5 years to sign up![/B] [SPOILER="Rules for Signing Up"] 1.Send an e-mail to [email][email protected][/email] On the email write the following (1)Your name, (2)Years of pen spinning experience, (3) A link to a pen spinning video of you (if you have one). 2.Competition Format (1)The combo for the round must be short 15-30 secs (2)Use whatever style you prefer (3) You any setting you want, (preferably a desk) 3. Judging The judging is the same as WC/WT and the average will be taken of all of them. 4. Awards The awards will most likely be a unique signature and possibly some pens, I will give some of my own pens for the award. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will get awards, 3 people will get honorable mention. The rest get a complimentary signature. 5. Deadline: To be decided, depending on how many participants want to join. [/SPOILER] Alright so some of you are confused about the qualifications which is understandable because i didn't really explain them at all. In order to qualify, first you must sign up (check rule 1) Then the judges will watch your video and see if you qualify. They might also seed the participants which means, they might pit the best spinners with the worst. There are 4 judges by the way. Reason why you may not Qualify -Too old -Not good enough -Too good -Specific Reason (for example rude and insolent constantly) Another thing in order to balance this tournament out a bit. Anyone 1.5 or over will not be permitted to join. It wouldn't be fair. I suggest you guys either wait for UPSBT or battle each other. so Sorry to spinners like @Voracity I hope this clarify's some stuff. The tournament set up will be elimination, I haven't decided on the rounds yet. Please be patient, not all of us are as free so be courteous to the judges and me. We will announce who gets in when the judges are finished.

Many people have been sending videos in and around this time AP exams and whatnot are rampant. Our judges have been stocked with work so, the deadline for the videos will most likely be next month or the end of this month. It depends on when the judges are caught up with the recent submissions you guys have been sending, It seems this has really piqued the interest of the beginner's which was my intention. Please however refrain from Private Messaging me. You guys have plenty of time so post here if you have questions. I would like to thank you all for participating.

UPDATE: The judges will be seeding the submissions. Meaning that they will essentially sort all of the submissions based on their skill. So this means, [B]IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT A VIDEO. YOU WILL HAVE TO FACE THE STRONGEST SPINNERS.[/B] So unless, you are Fel2Fram and are a pro at this early on, i suggest those who did not submit a video submit one.

A few suggestions. I'm convinced by the fact that the limit of 1.5 years is too high. I wouldn't call someone who has been doing something for 1.5 years a beginner. Voracity is guaranteed 1st place. This ruins the immersion of the tournament. The first page should be updated also. A minute ago SiL came up to the shoutbox and he didn't know that the rules about the qualification have been updated.

Alright i thank @ShadowParadox for shedding some sympathy and perhaps empathy for me. Sorry to those who eagerly await for this tournament to start. But it is annoying to everyone when you ask the same question over and over again. I will give you updates on when he results will be out. Make sure ALL of you have a working camera and everything in the meantime. After pauDM i will take no more entries. I have shown some leniency this time but next time hand it in before the deadline. Again thanks to all of those who entered. This will be a decent tournament

This will be a elimination style tournament folks. Make sure you guys are ready with angle/camera. Alright let me answer a few questions. First, no they are not in order from best to worst. That was just an arbitrary order that doesn't concern anyone Second, The prizes; i don't think i will be getting signatures from Peem, or VGG, or even Supawit127. This is because they barely know me, and unfortunately they have already decided to quit a while ago. So no signatures FROM spinners. You will still get the banner for your Account. Like i said i will think of something, at the very least expect that there will be no cash or pen prizes for now Third, @Cherry. I am terribly sorry but after looking at your experience, you are just over-qualified for this tournament. I know you wanted to be in. Sorry. There has to be a range of spinner. I was looking for a tournament that would give new spinners a taste of the world-cup/world tournament while still improving them. Those are all of the questions i got so far. But i want to take this time to talk about something else. Alright so yesterday/today i got a email from a Korean spinner saying he wants to start up this tournament on the Korean Pen Spinning Board. Now this means that Korean spinners will have a chance to compete against you guys. Now since we already have spinners from the Singaporean Pen Spinning Community i was wondering if we should allow the Korean beginners to join. In that case it would be an international thing. Also there are a few spinners who want to join, should i allow them to? I am on board if you guys are. Let's make it majority. Suggestions are welcome. Should we allow a limited number of Korean spinners to join? Thanks Zen

But in my opinion it would pretty cool to have like a UPSB vs PDS beginner tournament type thing. But i don't know it is up to you guys. Remember the conditions are all up to you guys. So it could be like invite the first 10 spinners or give them one week as a deadline and whoever qualifies, qualifies.

My opinion...let them join, make it 32 spinners. Upsb fight!!! Also just a suggestion...do u think we could do like a beginners board wc...like have different teams from boards have a beginner wc with different themes an stuff? Maybe not this time but like next year or something -

Not that I'm complaining or anything, but you've postponed the tournament at least twice (if Korea joins in). I'm sure many spinners here in UPSB have been very eager for this to start, but the decisions is completely up to you. -

uh i have not postponed the tournament. The tournament did not even start yet. But if you are talking about me being late with the qualifiers that was not really a big problem for you guys. Since now people want to join when the deadline is over. I understand they are eager. They have been eager all year. I have also been eager to host this. People are only a beginner for a short time. one year, two years. The next tournament will probably not happen for a another year. So the people who wanted join this year are no longer beginners next year so they can't join the next Beginner's tournament. I have to let all of the beginners get a chance. So i am sorry if this is such a delay to you. Figuring that many people have tests and exams i thought it would be alright by the majority of you. Is another week that much to wait? @Monk? Now since we already have spinners from the Singaporean Pen Spinning Community i was wondering if we should allow the Korean beginners to join. In that case it would be an international thing. Also there are a few spinners who want to join, should i allow them to? I am on board if you guys are. Let's make it majority. Suggestions are welcome. my opinion on the KPSA thing: why not just have a battle of the champions? top 3 from each tournament go head to head in a beginners battle of the champions, that sounds cool right? it wouldnt be much of an inconvenience for the 2 boards. :D about the prizes, banners would be good. i think the real prize here is the learning experience for us beginners. :D but it would be so awesome if pens and mods were at stake... that's all, hope my opinions help. :D

I agree with the idea. But it would be much simpler to have the Korean spinners just enter this tournament. I know, i know it seems like i am just shutting down ideas. Sorry it is not my intention. I just feel that this would greatly delay things as if we start the tournament for the PDS is would take longer for spinners to join and enter the deadline and whatnot. @spinnermark are in

Wouldnt there be too much rounds? it would be easier for the two boards to hold their own tournaments... it would take such a long time to get it started if more people would join, and it would be difficult for the judges, especially the first few rounds... but, there's a good side on having them join into one big tournament, more people, more friends and acquaintances, more experience and more fun. As they say, the more the merry-er. all up to you Zen, i'm good with any decision. :D -

Can you guys stop bugging Zen. He went out of his way to organise this tourney, he is using his free time to do this for you guys. Can't you all just wait for updates from Zen, he has a life outside UPSB as well. If you guys can't even do the simple task of waiting why even join this tourney?
