General Discussion / Until What Point Can One Solely Spin an Unmodded Pencil?

The thought recently just crossed my mind and I found it interesting, so I thought I'd see what you all have to say about this topic. For the sake of simplicity, we'll say performance-wise, and only that; not involving the history or importance of modding, as that is for another time. :P Anyway, the question is: Theoretically, how far do you think an individual could get spinning a completely unmodded pencil? At what point would tricks just be unfeasible (still possible, just not easily performed)?

the awnser: its hard and takes alot of practice. However, I do not belive there is any limits. I belive anything can be done with any unmodded pen or pencil. Just look at these videos and you will see what i mean :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-sVGoVbJsw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF6l-GGh1OE

All it really is, is muscle memory. I am sure you can do all tricks with a pencil. The "pen mod" was made to help spinners spin. This was not possible with a regular pen hence a modification was needed. Although I feel true pen spinning is with a pen, this is the purest form but of course others think differently Regards Zen

The problem with the video is that they learned with a modded pen then just the video to show skill or just show, they do it with a bic or pencil. I beleive there is a point where you need a modded pen but if you pratice hard enough you can do amazing feats.

you merely adapt your style to suit pencils. Its far more impressive to non-spinners. Power tricks are out of the question but you can focus on getting an aesthetic style and be considered very good with out spinning a mod

That really depends on your definition of "far". I'm sure someone can become really good spinning only a pencil from the beginning, but their spinning will probably be a different kind of good.
