What does justice even mean? Why would any one want to be just? Is it better to be unjust? Who's down for some new fashioned dialect?

But sometimes you want to be just, like if someone killed a loved one. Anyways I am rambling . anyways, why the question? -Dern Goid

I've been reading "The Republic" by Plato and I thought it was pretty cool. A just man would be a trustworthy person who could be trusted with political matters and would not embezzle money or use authority to bend the laws. Of course people would praise him in the open, but they may also wonder why he doesn't use his power for personal gain. An unjust man could be able to appear perfectly just but use his power for great personal gain while gaining all the benefits he would receive as if he were a just man. Clearly the unjust man has the advantage. Don't you agree?

Yes, he does. But the just man is aware of the impact of his actions so does not want to get additional personal gain. He may actually be happier in the knowledge he is being of more help than an unjust man.

Justice is a moral imperative. A man's conscience will generally coerce him to act in a just manner. To do otherwise is to risk contempt and ostracization from others. The populace is disillusioned with politics and many people would consider a "trustworthy politician" an oxymoron. What an unjust man gains in money and power, he will just as easily lose once his deception has been discovered.

If justice is a moral imperative then why do we see so many terrible crimes being committed on the news? Would you pardon those crimes because they were coerced my their morals? Some people are willing to risk their reputations for various causes. At any rate man is capable of terrible acts which makes it seem as if justice is an illusion held by the naive. A competent unjust man would take great care to not be discovered so as to not lose what he gained. I must agree with you on the "trustworthy politician" remark however.

well considering most of these fucks on the board, are unintelligent 9th grade fucks, and considering this board is more then half way dead... but imo justice, justice, is a sentence or event served to make something fair and just, it can be something as small as karma, or something as big as "the man that murdered his wife and kids is getting put down" but honestly what makes it justice? whos one man able to sentence another human being, justice will never be fair no matter what way you look at it, look at the movie" law abiding citizen" that movie, is not only funny, not only great, but totally true.. how can one serve justice over someone else, when you do wrong in your life, no one is perfect but the system that we have is soo fucked its not even funny, ppl who rape and molest children, will get off the charges, when there is proof, just not solid proof, but a man selling weed and has 8 pounds of it gets raided by the DEA, and the FBI and SWAT team, gets a 3 felonys and has to serve 10 -25 yrs in prison, its bullshit, if you actually think about it and break it down, america is sooo fucking, fucked with not only the gov. but the justice system as well, right now as we speak im witnessing first hand how fucking gay and fucked up the justice system is, justice, is usually never just, and if it is, its rare, most of the time its to harsh or to mild, never fair
