That zenbook is one of the few ultrabooks I might buy. Unfortunately I'm not a particular fan of the silvery metal hype with soldered components and am quite happy at the moment with my Thinkpad X200s and a Samsung 840 120GB for now. Might upgrade to a Thinkpad X220s if I should need more processing power. It looks like for now the focus is neither on making the CPU faster nor packing more cores on it but rather making it powersaving (see Haswell and the MBP improvements), edit: Oh and don't overestimate the importance of a laptop for university. I've seen enough people using their MBPs and MBAs as facebook machines all day long. A tablet might make more sense. Or just enough paper and a decent note taking system (working my way through GTD now).

I really only need a laptop that's good enough for the projects I have to do during my computer science bachelor. Something small and steady for project work should be enough. I can still get another pc/laptop for playing games and multimedia stuff. I think I'll get a X200s and another pc/laptop for my private stuff. Thanks for your help. (sun)
