UPSB v4
General Discussion / Prize Tournament!
-
Date: Sat, Mar 16 2013 12:21:47
okay, so when WT finishes, I have decided to run a tournament and offer some prizes (I work and work and work and spend all my money on crisps. So let's give it to some PSers instead...). I'm running it in such a way that it's perfectly plausible for anyone to win a prize, although the larger prizes will be more likely won by the best spinners. So anyway, without further ado... Who is this open to? This tournament is open to EVERYONE from all communities so please tell people in other communities that they can sign up! What of the prizes? This I'm not so sure on. What would you guys like to see for prizes? UPSB Premier memberships, pens, Penwish *vouchers*? Fire away, I'm open to ideas, although I want to stay away from cash prizes... Just because I lost £100 cash in the mail once. <_< The budget for prizes currently stands at £50, but I will try to add more until May. My target is for £100. I'll keep this thread updated when I manage to add more. : ) Tournament Format The tournament is going to be separated into 5 categories: -Best trick - The best single trick. This may have a theme. -Best combo - The best combo, perhaps with a theme. -Best performance - The best overall performance by a pen spinner (i.e. Who did the best overall in the tournament/overall winner). This will probably carry the biggest prize. -Consistency challenge - You will have to land as many tricks as possible from a trick list. -Mystery category. Prizes will be given for each category. What if I want to join? Sign up in this thread. This thread is for both questions and sign ups. Sign up with the usual /in. How exactly can beginners win prizes? A beginner could definitely win best trick, or the mystery category. It also can't help to have a go in other categories. How is this being judged? I will judge, along with two other people. Volunteers to judge would be greatly appreciated! I will make the scoring public and hope to keep it sensible and reasonable. ^_^

Just to clarify, If we submit, are we submitting videos just for the categories we want to be in? Or if we sign up, do we have to submit for each and every category? Regardless of the answer, /in. Good Luck Running this Mats. :thumb:

Either or both. For example, a very creative or appealing trick would beat a slightly difficult trick or a very difficult trick will beat a slightly creative trick. High difficulty and creativity might only be beaten by for example insane difficulty (e.g. cont TS 7.5 x3). -

Very good question... :hmm: I'll think about it and put how many entries when I announce dates etc... I'm going to say probably yes for best trick, maybe like 3? But probably not in other categories. -

Sorry for the lack of updates, but my internet is rather bad out here in the countryside at the moment... It may be this way until April 15th. Anyway... Good question... :hmm: No maximum or minimum times. And yes, all categories will be announced at the same time and with the same submission date, so it is kind of one round. -
