Yes, a comssa is a good pen to start off with, and there's already a thread for pen mod recommendation. The comssa is a good mod because you can make it heavier (if you want) by adding grips and tips, a regular comssa is pretty light but will help you learn tricks.

Since you are a beginner, you can use an emboss comssa or R.S.V.P mx.These are beginners' pens as they are lighter and have better balance.Do not think that a heavier pen may suit you because heavy pens add pressure to fingers and make them more difficult to spin.Professionals use heavier pens like buster because their fingers hqve gotten used to pressure and that they can make the pen spin more easily.Hope this helps!

I always recommend this to everyone, waterfall mod. Fantastic mod that you'll never want to put down.

Stay away from the RSVP MX. Do an Emboss Comssa or Emboss Rikota. BTW, pleaz don't embarass the penspinning culture by doing TA for all of class in school.
