What do you think guys? I actually kind of like it. I can imagine it sucks without any touch interface, but it's growing on me.

    It's for tablets.

No it isn't, it's an OS built to be flexible, with the idea in mind that desktops etc will be implemented with touch screens but still retaining the elements of traditional PCs. Anyone bitching about metro needs to grow the fuck up already, it isn't a big deal at all.

A similar OS design was introduced like 40 years ago by AOL. As you can imagine it failed horribly.

AOL didn't exist 40 years ago.

That 40 years was an exaggeration. I thought it was obvious that OS 40 years ago were not even very developed.

i think its alright i dont use the start menu, so the metro ui replacement makes no difference to me. launchy ftw. i like some of the apps, like messages and reddit, which offer nice interface. sometimes I see some news that catch my eye while booting up, so its a good thing I guess. i also like the pin feature for lazy ppl that want to type passwords one-handed. the login screen looks a lot better than w7 too. performance wise, its pretty good. some games dont work too well unless you apply some fixes to them.

I can't say that I have used windows 8, but from what I've seen the design seems pretty decent.

I used my sister's new Windows 8 laptop yesterday, and it is a lot diffferent, and in a way easier to navigate than Windows XP which I am using right now. So overall pretty good.

Windows 8 fails. Only good for tablets or touch screen. Yesterday at a store, they were selling laptops. A couple came to the laptop area and the wife asked her husband to buy a new laptop. Her husband was like, nah I don't really like the new Windows 8

I think windows 8 will be more sophisticated than 7 but the best of all time is XP.

After going back to windows 7 on my main laptop, I kind of want to upgrade it to windows 8 even though it doesn't have a touch screen. Windows 8 feels so much less buggy and more intuitive. I'm not a big fan of the new start screen but it's a lot easier to navigate.

All my computers with UI's look like Windows 2000. And I work mostly with a command line. Too damn flashy for me. Can't comment on stability as I haven't played with it too much.
