What does it mean when someone calls u "style-less" or "no style"?? Does it mean that ur linkage isnt appealing or lousy?? This also leads to a more fundamental qns --What is a style? Is style merely how u link tricks together? if so everyone shld have a "style"... :O p.s : dont know if there is a thread for this so i just posted a new one

well... pro-wannabies only says 'no style' because all spinners has their own unique style. Style is the way how you spin your pen.

Style is a term referring to the way you spin your pen, as what Yamaguchi had said. Every Spinners has his or her own Style. When a person calls you "Style-less", it kind of means that your Linkages is not very appealing. Since everybody's Style of Spinning is different, it is a little difficult to identify each person's Style by looking at their Combos.

Actually every spinner has their own style :o But if someone says you don't have a style, they basically mean your linkages or combo isn't appealing.

Style is when you reach a sufficiently high level in pen spinning that you're personality will manifest itself in your spinning. Your spinning becomes unique, and spinning is part of who you are. You gotta get smooth linkages and a decent trick repertoire before you have style or else your spinning won't be unique it just looks like everyone else learning pen spinning. A style based spinner will focus on fluid, creative spinning instead of raw difficulty in his combos. Once you develop style you've become a good pen spinner.

well... the best way to describe it is kinda what makes it artistic or unique. its how you move your hand/fingers in accordance with the tricks/links you do. its just the specific way that you spin. style is always present but develops over time. for example, take a look at how juminuwo spins. you may say that there are unnecessary movements that he makes when spinning but this is part of his style. with someone like eriror, there is a more straight forward or solid style that isnt as flashy as juminuwo's but it may look more controlled or solid. its sorta difficult to explain i suppose... its like looking at two paintings of the same thing but done by different artists. haha i suck at explaining things.... anyway, to conclude, if someone says that you are style-less they probably mean that your spinning is boring or visually unappealing because there is no flashy-ness or uniqueness to it. hope this helped.

Style refers to the movements of your hand, fingers and the speed of your spinning and how it variates/doesn't variates. Basically it governs everything that is outside of the technicality and creativity department, where they are not 'tricks' per se.

The top definition of style is "the way in which something is said, done, expressed, or performed", according to http://www.thefreedictionary.com/style. So lets ponder style in terms of pen spinning. Often one would say that a new spinner does not have style and how long it takes for a spinner to develop a style is different for everyone. Also some people will point out that a spinner's style looks like another style. So why do people say this? The key element for style to exist in anything is variety, and pen spinning has a lot of that. The biggest area being linkages, or what tricks a spinner chooses to chain together. Though there are other areas that can contribute to style this is the main reason why one would say that a new spinner is without style. When a new spinner is linking tricks together the tricks consist of most, or all fundamentals which can only result in a limited number of possible links. Considering that pen spinning has been around for a while now those links have already been done by many people, many times so there combo tends to be lacking in being unique. When the spinner starts learning more tricks their possibilities for links grows. As variety for a spinner's link grows the number that those links have been done starts to shrink making their links unique, but new links aren't the only big contributors for style. Where there is variety there is also repetition. Along the way a spinner might become attached to a certain trick, or link. While the spinner is incorporating new tricks in their combo they will often keep in that older trick, or link between them. This gives identity. Identity can not only be determined by the type of tricks a spinner uses, but also by their camera angle, setting, handedness, ending sequence, and execution. This can explain why someone's style may resemble another's. So, in conclusion I would say that style is formed when there is an equal amount of variety and repetition.

Style is creativity, it is elegance, it is smoothness. It is execution, it is trick choice, it is linkages. It is speed, it is flow, it is pen. It is filming, it is angle, it is background.
