That isn't a wristaround/handaround. -
Date: Thu, Jun 24 2010 12:53:16
Is it a combo???
-
Date: Sun, Jun 27 2010 11:54:02
This trick was invented by Pyralux where the pen rotates around the wrist fingerlessly in 1 revolutions. The rotations are generated from hitting the pen with the top of the wrist. This trick can be done continuously. The trick was wrongly named Pukan by Spinnerpeem when he did it in the WC10 finals video: Video tutorial by {TH}Enzo:

The trick Pyralux and Spinnerpeem did is a Fingerless Armaround, not a "Wristbust". It goes around the forearm, not the wrist.
-
Date: Sun, Jun 27 2010 12:30:44
Thanks for the correction but the concept would still apply to the armbust and the wristbust.
-
Date: Sun, Jun 27 2010 13:35:53
peem didn't wrongly name it, he just gave it a thai name...
-
Date: Sun, Jun 27 2010 17:29:46
Who can explain me how to do this trick??? Or can you make a tutorial??? Pliz. It's not a combo
-
Date: Sun, Jun 27 2010 21:16:02
There is no need of a thai name for tricks that where already named. He was the first to perform hai tua, so maybe he was authorized to imagin a name for it (even if the real name is not that hard, it's still a double hybrid), but he was not the first to perform the armbust, this trick was already named. Even if i'm a thai spinner, i cant perform a thumbaround and name it "Khøøp-khoun".

I think that too as long as they only use "thai" names in the "thai" board there will be no problem^^ -

I agree with Koksi.

I can't find a good tutorial for the Handaround. I looked on YouTube, and the wiki section of UPSB, but I can't find anything. I Don't know many pen spinning sites.

idk, but isn't that punkan? I could be very wrong.
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 03:52:41
Punkan isn't a very technical term either.
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 03:57:51
Of course, but it's more commonly known as that. I believe it would be armaround, formally. Idk. I need to review..
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 05:10:36
i call it punkan and i've never heard the term armaround before but armaround does make more sense cuz i dont speak thai lol
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 05:15:58
actually i dont think there is a difference
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 05:28:38
Pyralux originally called it the arm bak.
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 05:29:53
I think the name is actually arm around but of course in other languages they can make it popular with such name punkan :/
-
Date: Mon, Mar 21 2011 05:36:11
http://forum.upsb.info/showthread.php?t=116 I believe this is the thread for it?
-

a) please refrain from putting thread titles in capitals, or typing in capitals for body of the post, this is not spammer's bin and makes it hard to read b) i assume this is meant to be general 'punkan' discussion thread, change title to 'Punkan/Armaround help' or something along those lines, look at existing trick threads c) i'm sick of this naming debate. it certainly isn't armbak (coz it rotates in opposite direction to bakaround), and unless done continuously, is not really an 'armaround' either, more like arm bounce...(i think naming committee knows way more about this than i do). also most spinners' execution of this trick is not very good, so pen isn't in contact with arm for much of the pen's rotation -.- punkan is the thai name, it means 'pen goes around arm' iirc, seems to be fairly popular =__=" on topic: it's all about the timing of the ta release and where the pen is thrown, very different to aerial hai tua etc. took me a while to learn this, and i never bothered to work on it further since it's pretty much useless for combos unless you can do x5+ like peem...i've done x2 twice, and that's it.

The true name is armaround not punkan this trick has been placed in combo 2 years ago in pyralux's 2nd solo and a french spinner named near has been publish double arm around 2 years ago Near and his double armaround

The true name is ArmBak (Look at KTrinh93s tutorial) but it is known as Pun Kan. It was invented by pyralux and used in his 2nd solo. It was made popular by Spinnerpeem, when he used it in the final round of a WT. Peem used it as a finisher, and thus it gained popularity.

The oficial way to describe this movement should be Fingerless Armaround, if properly executed.

I believe your doing it right. Only thing is that sometimes your doing a FL. Wristaround and other times your doing it the way Peem did. -

It's not the FL. part. Some times your doing it at the wrist others at the arm. Doesn't really have that big an implication. -

what i mean is the thinner your arm the easier it is, that's why it's easier to do the around a finger than around a wrist than around an arm. hardest would be around the belly (for fat ppl) or chest -
Date: Mon, May 30 2011 15:52:59
LOL..that's what i meant before..my hand is bigger now..-.- because i've gym for 6 months..it's easier before because my hand thinner before..xD

im guessing its like a hai tua so id learn those befor u try these.
-

I learned Hai Tuas a long time ago, but this isn't the same. There's no aerialness.
-

@Bleevlee Like I said, the "stair-cased hand" method. The guy did it in the vid you posted when he did x2 hand bust.

master index busts, then master indexmiddle busts, then try out indexmiddlering busts (optional, does not help that much imo...but helps a little), then practice 'hand bust' also it helps if you start from aerial hai tua motion, as the movement of the hand in hand bust is way more similar to 2nd part of aerial hai tua than it is to 1st part of hai tua/cont hai tua, imo. someone commented before "it looks like you're repeatedly slapping someone" <-- maybe imagine it like this? xD some videos of it: x7 from 00:28 to 00:33-ish (aerial hai tua start, shameless self advertising by me...if you want i can make another video with slow motion -.-) x5,6,7 by A13x (hai tua start)
-
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 03:19:31
They all have aerialness though... FINE I'LL HAVE AIR. :( AND slowmo plox... If it's not any trouble D:.
-

Fire@Fox has a really good vid of him doing 5.
-

Look for "Peem Style Spread 5x by Fire@Fox"
-
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 03:51:33
@Bleevlee It's suppose to have aerial. Other wise you can't bust it at all.
-
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 04:02:25
If there isn't aerial it looks more skillful though... So basically... All handbusts are are hai tuas without the thumbaround part.
-
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 04:25:02
Bleevlee wrote: If there isn't aerial it looks more skillful though... So basically... All handbusts are are hai tuas without the thumbaround part.
no, handbusts have 1.0 rotations, hai tua has 1.5 rotations (when done continuously) edit: 'handbust' demonstration vid will be up soon on my secondary channel, will post here later -
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 04:51:44
That's not true, because handarounds, unlike indexarounds and stuff, do spins on top of the hand. If you know what I mean.
-
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 09:09:56
to do this trick practice ayatori and the FL indexbak rev from ayatori throw position, anyway this trick looks like an index ayatori start with Tw.bust and without the throw or the haitua start with bust and land on the index idk...:|
-

@Bleevlee x8,9,10, slow motion x1/2 and x1/4, and fs with hai tua > hand bust x 2 ending

nice busting i.suk
-

It looks like you're just bumping the pen like the second part of an air hai tua. And also I think this info is useless until I get a new mod... Fucking fragile reynolds caps... :(

it is a bust with the hand, when the style/execution of it is refined, it will look somewhat like what i am doing? xD aim is to make it look as much like normal busts as possible, imo...but a lot harder ofc -
Date: Fri, Jun 3 2011 23:04:20
I guess it could be like a bust, depending on somebody's busting style..
