I used a G1 (Not the gripped version) body with Papermate 2020 caps! It weighs less than a Un-modded comssa and can have a >12cm insert in it! I love that pen, I still use it now..

A bit more insight. I started using a stock RSVP Pen > Followed by a double capped RSVP (used that for quite some time) > Then I filed the caps on the RSVP's. From there I moved to a metallic bictory. Moved to the RSVP AMMX after that. Then got a Comssa mod. Which quickly evolved to the metallic comssa. Next I moved to the Dr. KT. My Spinning has been ruined ever since lol.

Wow, all of you people using pens for so long? I progress through mine way too fast... For me it was the Sharpie pen to a metal bictory, then I went out and bought some RSVPs and made a V1, then I got a metal Ballsign and an anyball retractable MX, then a signo tipped MX, an AMMX and now my personal sharpie mod. I made a G2-CTE but I didn't like the weight, and I'm going to get a metal comssa, tornado mod, MXSA and grip aviare soon.

EDIT, got rid of the uniball vision "mod" and replaced it with some Penwish mods.
I'd like to strike my previous "first pen" and say, these are my first true spinners. They were fairly cheap and I'm really enjoying the balance of them. -

Hi, i just started to have a real interest in pen spinning, and i have been spinning for almost a month now. I learned simple tricks like the TA (tumb around), charge, sonic, fingerpass, and many simple tricks many years ago. But i never knew that there were even more complex tricks than that, so i decided to learn more tricks... I know that a Buster is too advanced for noobs like me, so I made a BICtory and just bought a metal comssa from PenWish, what other types of mods are there that are suitable for newbies? Please respond. :D

im also a noob here and a few days ago i made my mod.... its an ext RG2T, u only need 2 pens, pilot G2 and pentel RSVP, center of gravity is the same that center of the pen, its 21 cm lenght. Please don't get a Buster CYL. They're long, heavy, and thick (no sexual allusion intended). A Metallic Comssa would certainly be a good choice for a beginner. It also can write, which helps to explain why you're carrying around a double-sided stick.

yeah I agree with nate, no buster. metallic comssa is good, i just made one earlier with g2 grips and it looks/spins great. I think you should get a metallic comssa, then when you have been spinning awhile (no, a month or so is not a while) then get something like a waterfall, but please no buster. And if you look up an rsvp nmmt or w/e i think i misspelled it, on the wiki, they're pretty good, just not for power tricks. And they only need american parts

Started off with supergrip shaker mechanical pencil back when I was yr8 learning to do TAs. Then when I really got into penspinning, first one was a fail personal mod which its name shall be stayed hidden. Then BICtory.. Then added anyballz grips on it... Then added signo tips, felt too heavy so I removed it again... Got spare anyballs so I ended up with any-x custom for a while. Then penwish package arrived.. Made coulomb g3 mod.. Loved it.. it was a "spinz" mod pen and it was terrible! too light and not even balanced. it was supposedly the advanced one. the basic one was symmetrical and actually better but it broke really quick.

unsharpened pencil. its funny because i just picked up an unsharpened pencil the other day and i could spin it like crazy. it just never lost its touch i suppose. its off balanced, thin, and generally light... but it feels so right spinning it.
