Summer is almost coming so yeah, gathering. x) So.....heeeeeeere's @kam B) [B]Hey guys, It's that time of the year again...when we SoCal spinners get together and get drunk and what not (oh wait...that doesn't really happen) Well, I know I haven't been around the board lately, but I'm still pen spinning every day, and hope to meet you guys/gals at the next gathering if you can make it. As usual, let's start by posting your desired/available dates so we can try to find a date that's suitable for most people. If you're visiting from out of town, please mention that so we can try to make you a higher priority than those who can always come to the next gathering. I might be able to go again, but not to psyched about going to the brea mall. not that I didnt like it, it was just a LONG trip and I almost missed a bus that would have landed me on a missing person list filed from semi-over-protective parents. yea brea mall is kinda far away for most of us... i vote august cause im a bit more flexible with time, but july will work just fine if its on a weekend @Fuse california is one of the biggest states out there, and its stretched from up and down the coastline. a drive from nor cal down to so cal could get you through several states on the east cost

if anyone has a better place, feel free to suggest. We've always done it in Brea (I think initially this was closer to the people attending, but that was years ago and people who used to go no longer go). For me, it's gonna be around a 2 hr drive from San Diego to LA anyways...so it doesn't matter to me. As for time, a saturday works better for me, but I'm okay with sundays as well.

I don't know first one I went to was Westside pavilion. Easy for me to get too, like a 45 minute travel. Anyone else find this area close? I think DJSspin does and his pals. Anyone else comfortable with this place? Just a suggestion.

I'm kinda fine with anywhere. I mean westside would be nice, it's a lot closer to me. Downtown la would also be nice, theres lots of resturants, a kino, etc. But it seems like a lot of people can't come if its not at brea.

Updated first post with final location (most of the votes were for Brea or Doesn't matter, with only a couple requesting different location). I also created a new poll to help decide the final date. Please check all dates that are ok for you AND the dates that are not good. Hopefully that will give us a good idea of the best date.

I think most people already voted...from the looks of it, August 11 seems to work for everyone. The next best choices would be July 7 or July 21 (we have the most votes on those dates, but Nacho wouldn't be able to make on those dates.) Nacho, where are you coming from? I don't remember you living near LA. If this is the only gathering you can make it, we should definitely make an extra effort to make it on Aug 11. Also, zkhan suggested we rent the room we used a couple years ago near Brea. Are people interested? If we all pitch in, the price might not be too bad, but it is pricey for one person to cover it all.

It'd be best if I the gathering was hosted in august sometime (maybe the 2nd or 3rd week as posted in the poll). But for July, I am not so sure... I'd be alright if it was on the last weekend of July. But of course, accommodations should be made so that the most number of people can attend. @Nachoaddict 's house? :P

Errr...I realize that it's impossible to please everyone, which is why I made the poll so you could put down the dates you cannot make it. Since nobody voted NO on August 11, I assumed most people could make it :/ It seems that NachoAddict is the only one who can't make it on July 21st. @Nachoaddict , can you double check that you can't make that day? If you can manage to make on that date, then I think we can change it to July 21st. Otherwise, we're sticking to August 11...sorry :(

Ok, to be fair...I'm gonna have to stick with August 11 as the final date. Those who can't make it...I'm sorry, but you didn't vote "NOT August 11" :/ I understand that the poll is not the ideal tool for deciding a date (as it doesn't allow you to change the votes once you've voted), but that's the best thing we got right now. I'll try to think of a better way of handling this in the future (we always have a hard time deciding dates). For those who can't make...well, I hope your schedule changes and you can make it...but at least...we're only a few months to december, so it shouldn't be long before the next winter gathering.

I went to some random academy that was really bad for like 2 weeks. Then I just self studied the rest of the time and took it xD -

I wouldn't take tools to the mall. Most of them can be considered weapons I'm pretty sure :/

I think small tools (like X-acto knife, glues, etc.) are fine. Anything bigger than a pen case or that requires an outlet is probably too much and may be frowned upon. In other words, I would leave out any power tools just to be safe (unless you plan on going to someone's house afterwards and mod there).

Lol I wish I had power tools for modding D: I'm probably gonna bring small pliers, tape, and a small x acto knife in that case. Just in case one of my more poorly made mods starts to fall apart.

I don't think I'll get there until after 11am (since I'm driving from San Diego and it takes a couple hours....and who wants to wake up at before 8am on a saturday, right :P ), but if you guys get there early, please save a couple tables. @DJSpin I'm not sure if I have time to prepare a workshop.

I just saw the pictures that kyoflow posted on "show off your pens" and I really want to go. What city is it in, and is the winter gathering usually as good? I just gotta get all As until then in school(I usually get Cs). Which mod is Kam's Cypher?

@Nachoaddict, I literally have 2 full gigs of of clips/pics, you can just compress all the media into a .zip file and send it to me via mediafire or email and also, it was a great gathering, not many people, but still enjoyable nonetheless see ya this winter the gathering video will be edited and released about a week after I gather the clips from all the attendees.

the gathering is in La Brea mall, which is nowhere near pennsylvania lol. im not sure how the winter gatherings usually are since i've never gone. and the cypher mod is two pens to the left of the cobra mod in the first pic i posted -

y dont u guys just organize a mini gathering on your own? i doubt the location will change since brea is within reasonable distance for everyone. they cant change just cuz of one person

irvine has enough pen spinners to have its own gathering, yet we all still drive to brea if we wanna go to so cal gatherings. and if you moved it, we would all hafta drive 50 min now, which would reduce the socal gathering to even fewer members.
