Hello Spinners! I'm an award-winning short film and music video director, and I need your help! I'm filming a very ambitious new fantasy movie called "Dreams of the Last Butterflies", and I'm looking to hire an incredible spinner for our opening sequence. Here is my website with my previous work: http://thousandnames.com/ We are shooting in *3D* with a professional cast and crew. This is no ordinary movie, my friends - we have 8 beautiful girls that will be transformed into Butterfly Queens, famous fire breathers, contortionists, ballet stars, and much, much more. It is going to be EPIC. Here is our blog to see some images and find out more about the film: http://dreamsofthelastbutterflies.tumblr.com/ For the beginning of the movie, this is what I envision: A single hand, in a field of blackness, as dark as outer space. The hand holds a pen - but this magic pen is glowing a deep blue from the inside out, lighting up the darkness around it. The hand then begins to spin this glowing pen in incredible swirling patterns. And then, as the narration poem of the video starts, the hand stops spinning and begins to actually write the poem onto the darkness with elegant writing - and the pen shoots out a bright blue light ray, causing the words to appear glowing in space! We will build a one-of-a-kind glowing pen with LED's for this effect, and the writing will be CG. It will look amazing, I promise. So! I need to find the right person for this. Here is the tricky part: this spinner needs to be based close to New York City, USA, or within easy travel distance. Spinner community, do you know anyone who this would work for? We are shooting in Mid-August. And yes, this would be *PAID* - not a ton, as our budget is not huge, but it would be definitely worth your time. ;) As I've just signed up to this forum, I'm not sure about getting messages, so please also reply to [email protected]. Thanks in advance everyone! I hope to bring your amazing skills to a much wider audience!! Very best, Zina Brown Director/Producer Thousand Names Productions

dude try plox, you're like right there, and you aren't too noob ;-; aside from probably BaiMai it doesn't really get too much higher in level of spinners than you and I around EST, unless I'm forgetting ppl somehow (sorry if so hehe)

but your style is really smooth and wouuld look great. its not like the ppl who watch the film are going to be looking at your linkages or something. if its smooth its a win. basically.

I did as well, might as well. I really hope they can find someone on the highest level to do it and represent PS, or manage to get someone farther away i.e. West Coast, or international :////

Lol you guys don't really understand. You don't need to be top tier pro spinner to do something like this. Any person that can do just simple freestyles is good enough. You're not trying to impress other spinners, you're going to impress the general public.

Hello Spinners! Thanks so much for everyone's reply! We're very excited about some of the responses so far, so keep them coming! Some truly amazing talent in this community. We'll be reviewing videos for the next week or so, so if you think yourself or someone else might be a good fit for this, please do send us video links! Or, you can post them in this thread and we'll see them as well. Thanks again! Zina

I highly reccomend Iota. :) I mean, just look at this guys spinning! www.youtube.com/user/IotaUPSB I think he has the kind of style & knowledge of actual pen spinning aesthetics (angles and planes of rotation) that would be perfect for the scene. Maybe this will do for pen spinning what the Labyrinth did for Contact Juggling ^^

If only we ha S777 in the USA, he'd be perfect for you. Iota will definitely do well, however.

Thanks again for your help, everyone! We've found about 4 spinners that are within our travel range, and they are all awesome! We're consulting with our producers and are considering which one we think will be the best fit for the movie. We can't wait to show you all the movie when it is done later this year! Hopefully we can really show off how amazing and unique pen spinning is to a much wider audience. :) If you have any more recommendations, feel free to email me at [email protected] Best, Zina
