Tapecuting and gripcuting maybe? only straight cuts, not complicated ones (it took me some time to guess how it was, so it's not that obvious lol)

You could have selected the crop tool, enter the insert dimensions, set the boundary box properly and press enter instead of transforming the image and pasting it into a new document. Same goes for printing, you can do it directly from photoshop: Just preview the print, move the insert away from the centre and print that thing. No Word needed for that simple task.

I dont print from photoshop because sometimes (specially when i got the insert from the web), it prints out extra large inserts Word is just something I always use to make sure the size is correct. And yeah, that's how I make inserts ;) I'm sure there are lots more different methods xD Frog~

If Photoshop prints the inserts at the wrong size, then you haven't chosen the correct DPI. And yes, as you can probably imagine, it's no problem fixing that afterwards in the printing preview as well. So I don't really get why you choose to avoid it. There may be a lot of ways to do things, but why don't you present people the most straightforward way?

Hmm, I did one on that in the GPC (and this is more of a thing that would be better presented in a text tutorial with the focus set on shooting the photo, not editing it endlessly). Maybe you could add a note on how to find out the size for an insert by trial and error (especially important for unknown pens or people who want to make them perfectly seamless).
