Advanced Tricks / Extended Thumbaround

The Extended Thumbaround is a trick where a Thumbaround is followed by a Fingeraround, usually an Indexaround. There are two different ways to do this trick. One involves a more vertical IndexAround, while the other involves a more diagonal path for the Indexaround. Each have their own implications with hand and wrist movement. The hybrid has a total of 1.5 revolutions and is caught between the index and middle fingers. There are also Reverse, Inverse, and Inverse Reverse Twisted Sonics. Video Tutorial by KTrinh93 Video Tutorial by Pari UPSB Wiki entry ------------------------------------------ *NOTE* There was much controversy and confusion over this hybrid and Fake Double and Tornado. *Fake Double is a mini-combo that includes Ext. TA and is broken down as: Extended Thumbaround > Pass Reverse 12-T1 *Tornado is a different hybrid that resembles Ext TA in terms of path but uses subtle, yet altogether different constituent tricks and is broken down as: Thumbaround T2-T1 ~> Fingerless Indexaround T1-T1. The Tornado is caught between T1 just like the Fake Double. ------------------------------------------

What Fratleym showed is not a Fake Double. It is still an Extended Thumbaround. In my tutorial, I simply called it the modern one, as opposed to the old. I suppose you could call it a "Korean" Extended Thumbaround, but that would just confuse people.

I need serious help with this trick. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I would guess it has to do with timing the catch. Can anyone help me?

For me, I would always try to turn my hand too early, so slightly delaying my timing helped. And the tut by KTrinh really helps

Turn your hand when the pen is perpendicular to your index finger. Then you just lift your index and let it fall. Dont force the pen around your thumb. The rotation of your hand does the index around.

Do a TA When the pen is pointing at you and the other side of the pen is at the opposite direction of you (So basically pointing away from you) Turn your hand Palm Down Practice that part so you can somewhat get the motion. Once you get it try catching it. Like in KTrinh's vid catch it by somewhat relaxing your fingers except for index (Stick index finger up) then it might roll or spin to that area once you see it go there pull your middle finger up to the same area where your index finger is at. Or keep the fingers the same and let it move to the TF if it does

Your timing might not right or you push your pen too hard(it falls) too light(it stop) or you don't turn your hand enough. you could try fixing your power or try lift your index finger up more so the pen can fall in between index and middle finger or turn your hand more but not too much cause it might cause pen to stop. Hope you get it soon :thumb:
